This is not the worst hostel I've ever slept in, but it is solidly the filthiest. And I've stayed in over 100. The only others that come close were in India. I'm sharing photos to illustrate. Do read this review in its entirety, otherwise you can't say no one warned you. The pictures you see on HostelWorld were clearly taken the day Ten to Ten opened. The place now is just a dump, because management appears to have made no effort to maintain it. My private room had a bed that was nearly broken and the headboard was a beat up piece of raw plywood glued to the wall. The walls themselves were horribly dirty and scuffed with random holes and screws sticking out of them. The door was as sturdy as a chintzy Ikea coffee table, so every tiny noise echoed through all night. The lock was also useless; I could have opened it with a metrocard in less time than I can sneeze. There were no windows and zero ventilation, only a weird lumpy mattress, translucent linens, a wall A\C that stubbornly wouldn't adjust and no blanket unless you requested one before the desk closed for the night. I got home at 11:15. Elsewhere it was obvious everything was the cheapest option possible: harsh fluorescent lights, rickety toilet seats and doors, beaten up old furniture, unusable cookware — all of it stained and dirty beyond repair. Bathrooms were dank and in too poor of repair to be cleanable, so there was mold everywhere. Faucets barely worked and were detaching from the counter. Rusty metal baskets hung over shower doors leaving orange stains where they made contact with plexiglass. There were weird smudges on bathroom walls, vomit on toilets, old stains from the stickiness left behind by old tape, musty smells, circles on the floor where some gooey liquid clearly dried and gathered dust no one cared to scrub away. The lounge areas were more of the same, except here I found junk everywhere and cords dangling from weird places. The ramen "restaurant" was also so gross I couldn't imagine eating a meal there. And just to be clear, I've comfortably eaten street food after handling monkeys. Add in bad security and broken wifi and we have one of the worst hostels I've ever seen. So how does one explain the glowing reviews? They all seem to shower praise on the managers — who really weren't friendly or helpful beyond the very bare minimum — so you do the math.

It has no real communal space apart from 2 tables that you use for eating and lap top or chatting The kitchen is poorly equipped Fridge is small and full also with staff food No air con The rooms are ok but only a bed and a side table nowhere to hang clothes or your towel Communal Bathroom is clean but only 2 shows and 3 toilets and NO HOT WATER for the morning shower so not good Some staff ok But the BIGGEST PROBLEM is l brought a friend back for some drinks in my room and on checkout l was told we had to pay 500 peso as l Broke house rules that WAS NOT POINTED OUT TO US. My friend was only in our room for 1.5 hrs so didn’t stay long WE HAVE NEVER STAYED ANYWHERE THAT WILL CHARGE YOU FOR BRINGING SOMEONE TO YOUR ROOM EVER the lady checking us out was very nasty and did not except our point of view just wanted our money which we refused to pay and had to take our luggage with us, luckily we had a friend we could keep it with so not a problem So l DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL

It is a backpacker’s place so not to expect to much It has a large down stairs reception /&room which does vegan food that look quite good, and has a good reputation (So l was told) The bedroom was a good size with a double bed air conditioning 😊😊 worked well, side tables and a bed side light Some hangers on a stew on the wall and a stool Clean sheet and a good towel that get changed every 3 days Noisy bed when sat on 🤔 but ok when sleeping, and can be a bit noisy from people in the communal kitchen at night The 2 men’s showers are cold in the mornings and kind of warm in the afternoon ( from the sun) toilets are clean and don’t smell which is good 😊😊 The staff are nice Not much in the way of communal space to relax in ( but they are making a small bar on the rooftop) so that will be good When done The kitchen only has a very small 2 electric rings to cook on Pans are very old and scratchy so everything sticks 1 fridge that gets very full And two tables to eat at Not much space to put your food or to prepare it As staff also have there food and cook 🤔 Outside balcony which just has 1 small table and 2 chairs 🤔 A code to get into the hostel at night for the front door gets locked No problem if you won’t to bring friends back No safes but you can leave stuff with the reception that they put in a room with a locked cupboard that only staff go in and has a camera also The *** bars are a 15 minute walk The beach 15 mins walk No close places to get a nice cheap 35 peso 10 /15 mins walk away towards the zona romantica other wise you pay 45/to 60 peso for a coffee 🤔🤔🤔 Food has gone up in price a lot and drinks /beer has also gone up in price 30 peso for corona (not bad at all ) but more than l remember it being Some places selling it for 50 peso /60 peso for a bottle 🤔 food for a dinner was almost the same as in Europe 🤔 but quality not the same Hay this is MEXICO 🤔😊 Get yourself a SIM card tellcel in Mexico City for 100 peso for 3 gigabytes that has done 10 so far and still ok but have been useing Wi-Fi a lot also

SCARY, NO SAFETY GUARANTEE FOR SINGLE WOMEN ATTENTION SOLO WOMEN TRAVELERS: This hostel has no security at all in case something happens during the night. There is no staff available to deal with emergencies, nor is there a contact phone number provided. Let me share my experience: My stay as a single woman in this hostel was awful, and I want to explain how irresponsible they are regarding the safety of their guests. I was assigned a room with four bunk beds, all without a curtain. I was placed on an upper bed and a man was on the lower bed. I tried to sleep, but I couldn't. Around 2am, this man climbed onto the top bed of his bunk intentionally and started doing his thing. At that moment, I grabbed my phone and left the room, very scared. I went to the reception, but there was no one there, nor was there a contact phone number. I was shaking with fear. After 30 minutes, I decided to go back because another person was sleeping below my place and I thought that if something happened, they could help me (or not). I decided that if necessary, I would scream to wake everyone up and ask for help, as there was no other option. That night I only got two hours of sleep. Imagine if something even worse had happened; there was no hostel staff available to help. In the morning, I got up at 7 and went straight to reception, but no one came until 8:30. When two young men finally came, I explained to them what had happened, and they told me that nothing similar had happened before. Furthermore, they suggested that if I wanted to feel safer, I should book a private room. I considered this response as a lack of responsibility on the part of the hostel staff. I hope my comment is helpful to women who are considering staying at this place. I do not recommend it at all. It is unsafe and irresponsible!

I arrived in Vallarta on January 15th of this year, a little late at 8:20 pm and the hostel named Ten to Ten was very full in the restaurant area and it took them a while to give me the bed where I was going to stay for four nights. I took a shower and went out to eat and have some beers. At 2 in the morning I came back to try to sleep and surprise, it was impossible. The mattress was full of fleas or bedbugs. I don't know what animals they were, but it was very itchy. I got up and took a shower. At the entrance to the room next to the lockers on the top there was a liquid indicated as insecticide, almost half full, which I drank and spread all over the mattress. I waited a few minutes and almost asleep I went back to bed. I don't know if it was because of tiredness, but I woke up around 4:50 AM and scratched my neck, stomach and arm because I was very itchy and I saw that I had a lot of pimples or blisters. I woke up and waited for dawn to break, preferring to go to the beach. There I tried to sleep until about 8 AM and returned to the hostel and asked for the manager or person in charge to give me a solution. The only thing they did was move me to another room and until the day of my departure I was able to meet with the person in charge. She mentioned that I had harassed one of her workers and that it was almost my fault, that is why I will never return to that hostel with very poor hygiene and rude and lying staff.
