NO! This the old building. Make sure you book in the new building. We had no idea. The hotel photos and info were deceiving. Service at the front desk is horrible. Too many vendors in your face at the beach. Rocky beach too. Make sure you bring your water shoes. Restaurants service and food were good.

This was our 4th visit to Canto del Sol and we are sorry to say that the level of customer service has declined considerably. Many of the staff seem disinterested in helping the guests. They seem to be preocupied most of the time. The reservations lady seemed to be trying to hide all the time to avoid customer contact. The front desk (recepcion) seemed to be generally unconcerned with their guests wellbeing. The wait staff (meseros, servidores, bartenders, cosineros etc were top notch.as were the house cleaning staff...first class in every respect, however this didn't make up for the pitiful service up front. Security was excellent too. One other problem was that the chairs around the pool and on the beach would not allow you to get into a comfortable position for reading....you always had to lean way too far back . I'm sorry to say that we will not be staying at this hotel again until they work on these issues.

It's a dump! wouldn't stay there again if they paid me to just read a review that tells us that the poolside toilets are still out of order ... and that's one month since we were there. Food ? garbage. Snack bar ? lousy staff? mostly good but the porters always looking for tips.

Hello Myself and my wife both dined in the Italian restaurant last night 19th , we would like to say a big thank you to Silva whom greeted us at the entrance, her customer service was of the highest standard. The food was outstanding, the white wine was nice and cold as it should be. The service by the staff was outstanding, the ambience, decor of the restaurant made you feel you were in an Italian restaurant. A massive big thank you for an enjoyable meal . Would you kindly past our appreciation on to all staff from us . Mr & Mrs Ratcliff Room 203 20th July We like to thank the staff for the great service they delivered in the lobby bar, nothing was too much trouble, service was always with a smile , can you pass on our appreciation to the following staff, Osualdo Yacshiri Refrain Viahcy The hotel is lovely and clean all round. My family (2 adults and two kids ages 11 and 13) stayed at the Villa Towers, the secondary building belonging to Canto del Sol, in a spacious suite with 2 bedrooms, a living room, and kitchenette. The kids even had their own double beds in their shared room, and their own ensuite! We had our own master with ensuite bathroom and king sized bed! I was not anticipating having two bathrooms and it was great, lol. Our building was quieter than the busier main building, which I liked, as it was away from the main pool and bar where they played loud pop/dance music all day. Perfectly fine for a lively time but maybe not so great if you wanted an afternoon nap. Our suite was on the older side with some wear and tear showing, but everything was perfectly clean and well maintained. We didn't mind this at all and felt it gave the place more character. The beds were super comfortable and our whole family loved it. Additionally, the all inclusive part was amazing and were wowed by the helpfulness/friendliness of the staff and quality of food served at all meals, including the snack bars like the cevicheria. We had tried some local fare outside the resort but felt our hotel's food was just as good or even better! It's probably no wonder that Canto del sol is regarded as "the Mexican resort"; seemed like 40-50% of the guests were nationals, which we thought was a plus. On the subject of food, we made reservations at the Mexican, Japanese, and Surf & Turf restaurants. We absolutely loved the Mexican restaurant - O M G it was good - and the staff were so so amazing. Our waiter Alejandro was so welcoming, attentive, and funny. Sadly, when we tried the Japanese restaurant, we were utterly disappointed by the tuna sushi and sashimi dishes as they were not palatable at all (judging by even the lowest of Vancouver standards!). For that reason, we decided to change our last reservation for a second visit to the Mexican restaurant and were glad we did! Apart from the stellar food, the vibe there is just so much more friendly and festive. We also got Alejandro again, which made our last night just perfect! Overall, we loved Canto del sol and would totally stay there again! Last note: Canto is in the hotel zone, which makes it close to downtown and walkable to shops and other restaurants, and makes getting a city taxi a cinch: a big plus compared to staying in more remote areas like Nuevo Vallarta.

As usual our stay was great amazing staff and Alexander the bar tender is real good. My only complaint is the coffee. In a country where they grow bean it seems to me a consistent good cup of coffee should be easy Also check out Rhythms of the Night

Very disappointing holiday and hotel not fit for purpose for TUI customers. My parents visited in 2018 and recommended the hotel for us to visit as a family. Unfortunately the hotel was not the same as it previously was, and has gone downhill drastically. On arrival there was only one lift working, and this remained the same for the entire stay, with no evidence of anyone working to fix it at any stage. We have a baby and a pushchair to get down the stairs, which on more than one occasion we had to carry down the stairs due to the one lift not working. On check out, as everyone was checking out at the exact same time we waited for 20 minutes to get in the lift, which in the end stopped working so we had to carry the baby asleep in the pushchair down the stairs along with 4 suitcases. Every weekend the hotel became very busy and full of wedding parties, dance teams, football teams and many other large groups that would dominate the hotel and its amenities. The queue for the evening buffet was extremely long from around 7.30pm and by the time you go to any food stations they were completely empty. You just had to get what was available rather than what we wanted. On other days there were conferences being held, which then all the bar area and toilets were completely full and this negatively impacted the accessibility of all inclusive items. Again these should not be impacting holiday guests, and yet they did. The food in the buffet was the exact same every day, the breakfast was leftovers from the night before, which as an example the watermelon soup from the evening was turned into a hot drink with spices in the morning. Soggy nachos with the pulled chicken from the previous night was served at breakfast . We had to ask multiple times for granola that some days was there and other days not, we could only get bacon depending on who was actually working the egg station on that day and only one person was making eggs for the whole hotel. Every Friday and Saturday night a wedding was hosted at the hotel seafront which is in front of all the guest rooms. Quotes from your website ‘Every evening there’s a colourful show staged in the al fresco theatre.’ This never once happened in the two weeks we were there, the alfresco theatre was used only for the weddings at the weekend and nothing else. The music and bass from these wedding could be heard in our rooms and the bass vibrated into the bedrooms. We contacted reception to be advised this would last till 12.30am every night and they could not turn off the bass. The music interrupted my babies’ sleep and she had bad nights as she was very unsettled. The location of my room meant that music from the entertainment and the wedding clashed for the while they were both on and the location of my parents room meant they were basically in the wedding. We do have video evidence of how loud this was in our rooms. On your website it says ‘ This bright seaside hotel is a great place for families, thanks to it

This resort is so fun. Yes the building is old but don't let that fool you! Fernando was amazing and served us on beach or by pool. The Buffett was great with plenty options! I will definitely be back soon!

I wrote review earlier and was unable to add photos. Here are the photos As I can’t edit previous review. Staff are nice, resort could use a facelift and cleaning, double pane windows and screens to keep reptiles/bugs out. Please read other review.
