We loved our time at Velas. I came with a large group of friends/family to celebrate my 40th birthday and Alba was so helpful with making sure everyone was booked and comfortable. She had wonderful suggestions for food, snorkeling, beach clubs, day trip, etc…. We had an issue with our shower and it was addressed right away. We had a ground level, ocean view condo, which was convenient and clean. Go now and enjoy the view, because, unfortunately there is a building being built right between Velas and the beach. We’d love to come back, thanks for taking care of us, Alba!!

We stayed in a partial ocean view condo. The condo itself is very nice and had everything we needed. It’s close to the beach and town, walking distance to all the restaurants & bars. The small pool is great to cool off in. Unfortunately, our condo was looking into a construction area where a large condo building is being built. It was very noisy during the weekdays and there was no privacy without staying inside and closing the blinds. I’m sure the ocean front condos & street front ones would be quieter and offer more privacy.

This was a great place to stay - right by the beach. We had everything we needed for our stay, close enough to the centre of town but quiet with a lovely calm central pool area (although they are building next door so some daytime noise). Alba was so friendly and helpful with everything - from kit for the beach and pool, to helping us organise snorkelling and then thinking of alternatives (an amazing cenote trip) when the weather was against us. And all on her day off. Thank you!

HUGE construction site right next door!!!! EXTREMELY LOUD and cannot relax on the balcony or even inside for that matter. They start 8am and until 8pm. Can hear it on the beach as well. Bikes at the place were broken! Showers are tiny. Otherwise everything was great about it.

if you are a beach person and don't mind a room that could use a few updates then this location is for you. If you have kids and would like a pool then this location is definitely not for you. The pics on the website are deceiving as the show a plunge pool that looks as though it is part of a unit but that is the lobby of the hotel. The pool was dirty and really could not be used by anyone other than a toddler. The location is great if you are beach person. if you can get an ocean front room you have a balcony that overlooks the water and a 2 minute walk to the beach. it's also a short walk to the downtown area where there are lots of great restaurants and shops. The units was fairly clean but is in need of some updating, specifically the bathroom.

We were contacted the day before our arrival by the hotel to say we will be “excited” to see you tomorrow. When we arrived they had no room for us and tried to send us across town in a none oceanfront room that was “substandard”. We had to find our own room somewhere else. The girl that was at the desk was not very apologetic about the situation. I would not come here if I were you.

Stay spoiled by construction work that the hotel is well aware of but which is not announced. Be careful, there is a major construction site right next to the apartment. It will take at least 18 months because they are only at the foundations. I therefore recommend avoiding this hotel until the end of 2025. The work is deafeningly noisy from 7am to 7pm every day, including Saturdays. It is impossible to stay on the balcony, or at the swimming pool (which is tiny and in a corridor, anyway), or even to sleep in the rooms, once the work begins. The sea view and the swimming pool are therefore no longer of any interest and the value for money is therefore execrable. The manager did not want to do anything despite our repeated requests. For the rest: lamps that do not work, beach equipment unusable because broken, insufficient equipment in the kitchen, broken windows...
