Delfines de Chicama Hotel

The rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious with some offering a beach view. The prime location provides quick beach access and excellent seafront views. The staff offers exceptional, friendly service in all areas.

Imagine a hotel that was built twenty years ago and then left to deteriorate. That sounds like Delphines. There are minor improvements here and there but the major work it needs seems put off (painting, pool area surrounds, pool "bar", the grounds, stairways, steps, etc.) The rooms were clean and beds comfortable (we stayed in three different rooms while there over two weeks.) (It's a double bed for two people; not a queen.) They offer to clean the room daily. Shower is good. You get soap and shampoo. Internet was good. Location is great. Room size is better than average. All rooms face the water but upstairs is definitely superior ($6/night more). The restaurant is probably the best in town - try the Sultado. Breakfast is about the same every morning. But the cost - $80-86/night? This is PERU, not the USA. We negotiated a discount for longer term stay, but still, it's way overpriced in our opinion for what you get. The pool table is a joke. (Balls roll seemingly wherever they choose, but it's probably all the dirt under the felt causing the variation.) Staff is very friendly. I just don't see where the owner/management is putting any money into this place when they are making bank. The demand must be there tho otherwise they'd lower prices. It baffles me.
