We are on our final day here, and we fly home later. Before I start my review, I want to say that it's still a great place to stay, the staff are friendly, and a great location. We have stayed here a number of times now and have never had cause to complain. But I feel letdown by the cleanliness of the apartment we had this time round. We were situated in an apartment on the road up to reception, on the outside of the complex. Previously, we stayed inside around the pool area. Being on the road, I would expect some level of surface dust around the apartment. But what I found had been there for a number of weeks/months. I don't expect the place to be spotless, as the turnaround time between guests isn't that long, but I expect some level of cleanliness. I only realised how dusty it was when I closed the wardrobe door a little too hard and dust feel from the track and trim on the door. And when I run my hand along it, there was weeks/months' worth of dust. Then I found everything above head height was the same. That says to me that it hasn't been maintained during each clean. Now, if it had just been me here, I wouldn't have worried, but my wife has dust allergies. So I went and spoke to reception, told them the issue, and asked to see the manager of the head of cleaning. Apparently, the manager wasn't available, as he works from home most of the time, but told that if I emailed reception, they would forward the email on. They sent a cleaner a little later, but she seemed disinterested, and all she did was wipe down the wardrobe and one door frame. Not even bothering with the rest of the top of the door frames, mirrors, pictures, and wall lights. I would hope this is a one-off with one cleaner, and if it is, then they should do something about it before the neglect carries on. because it would spoil such a nice place. I would like to say I got a reply from the manager, but day seven and I have had no reply to my email. Either he didn't bother to reply, or reception didn't forward it on. Perhaps they don't tell him much, and keep complaints from him. Perhaps he should be at the place a little more and not work from home so much. I've written this review in hope he sees it. I didn't want to put a review like this, which I wouldn't have done, had I got a reply, or a better service from reception.
Plaza Azul

Don’t be put off by the reviews, I read the reviews and was abit unsure at first. We stayed here for 10 nights and over all its a lovely hotel basis for what you pay for but rooms get cleaned every couple of days clean towels if needed little snack bar friendly bar man 2 pints for 5 euros nice food. There’s a bar in the reception area with big TVs so you can watch the football pool table and also arcade areas for the kids to play. You can hire a fan for 25 euros but 10 euros is a deposit but you get that back definitely a must. Shops are located just outside the apartment, 5 minute walk down to the main strip becomes a killer for your legs as the days go on walking back up but good exercise. You can get a taxi to the main shops where there a McDonalds and Burger King near by and it only cost about 4 euros. Would definitely come back again.
Hostal Magec

I was made feel very welcome when I arrived at Pension Magec. The hospitality I received from the management and other guests was amazing. Its a very friendly place. The property is very clean and my room was cleaned everyday. The management are extremely helpful. The management will go out of their way ensure that guests needs are met all times. Carla is lovely as are everyone else works there including Sandi the manager The view from the top veranda is stunning. The guests can sit and have a drink and chat together on the veranda. As a solo traveller you would never be lonely and its very safe. Everyone talks to each other when up on the veranda. You are made feel welcome by both management and other guests at all times. There is always someone to talk to. I felt we were like a big happy family. There is free tea and coffee at the property. I would highly recommend Pension Magec as its very central. Kind regards Anna from Ireland

Our first time actually staying in Puerto del Carmen having stayed a few days in Costa Teguise for the marathon. The apartments were a fair distance up a hill which could be a problem for people with limited mobility, one of the hills up was a lot less steep than the other. There was a very handy Spar at the top of the hill approx 200 yards from the appartments so you didn’t need to tackle it for day to day supplies.Travelling back down took you onto the main promenade with a huge choice of restaurants and bars plus easy access to the beach. The appartment itself was fine if a bit tired. The kitchen had a hob and microwave plus basic cooking utensils kettle etc.The television did have ITV and BBC1 Ireland but was not consistent frequently losing reception, so we usually resorted to watching our downloads on the iPad.There was a games room and pool bar on the site which had very friendly staff and was excellent value, the pool was cold but we did visit in December so not that inviting.the site also offered a commercial washing machine 4 euros and tumble dryer which we used and found excellent.Like most of the appartments this had its own hot water supply which was fine for one shower but ran cold if we both tried to shower within a short time of each other. The appartments were advertised as having a towel change every 2 days after 6 days this hadn’t happened but a quick call to reception and this was done. The balcony was nice having a view to the sea and therefore received a fair bit of sunshine. There is little or no sound insulation in the appartments so you can hear neighbours quite loudly which can be uncomfortable. Overall we would stay here again if it was the most budget friendly option we could find but we wouldn’t put it high on our list of destination.
