JS Portocolom Suites

This hotel is immaculate, and the rooms are spacious. The communal areas are stylish and well presented. We arrived later than planned due to delays at the airport, and Deborah, on reception, explained to us that we could still make it dinner and even offered to check us in afterwards. Whilst in the restaurant, even though the evening service finishes at 21:30, Fidel made sure we had enough before we left. Personally, I loved the food. So much fresh salads, local food, and carefully prepped and well presented vegetable dishes. I think the chefs should be very happy with the quality. As others have said, coffee and juice at breakfast could be better, but it's not the end of the world. The staff are a real credit to the hotel. They are professional at all times and switch languages with ease. As well as those mentioned above, I must shout out Rajae, Paula, Alba, Franco, Moses, and Laurebo for their excellent service!

Had an excellent stay with partner. Beds were really comfortable. The rooms and outside areas of hotel were very clean. Great size terrace. Really friendly and attentive staff. The area was peaceful with nice bars and restaurants, all within walking distance from hotel. Bus stop just outside hotel. Got a couple of buses to nearby areas. The service was excellent. Would definitely stay again.

We are just back from a lovely week at this hotel! There were 6 of us - 2 adults and 4 children (2,5,10 and 11) and we booked 2 x suites. When we arrived I asked if there were any sea view suites, and was able to upgrade one of our rooms for €20 per night - I would honestly say it was worth it for the lovely view! The rooms were spotless and plenty of space for 3 of us. Bathrooms have a shower only, it’s great - v powerful and plenty hot water. The swimming pool is great - a big pool and a splash pool - our kids were happy here all day!! There is also a little park and a football area here, which were both big hits. The hotel looks out on a little square that has bars and restaurants - we visited to ice cream bar at the end of the square everyday! We also enjoyed lunch at Lou’s - a lovely little Italian right beside the hotel - highly recommend. It was noisy at night time -just people out enjoying a drink, meal etc and we loved it but maybe if you are a light sleeper or have a baby the sea view rooms are not the best option. We had opted for half board - in future I would just go B&B. There wasn’t anything wrong with the food, just as others have mentioned some odd combinations at dinner and not always to our taste. One of our kids is dairy free and it was tricky to know which foods he could eat as dishes weren’t labelled. Kids we’re happy with pasta and ice cream though! Portocolom is gorgeous - Cala Marcal beach is a 10 minute walk and is beautiful! Not far to walk to supermarket, restaurants, harbour, play park. We would love to come back and wouldn’t hesitate staying at the hotel again.

We’ve just returned from a fantastic stay at this hotel to celebrate our engagement. The hotel is beautiful and clean with friendly staff. The pool is clean and immaculate, loved having a Pina Colada and a swim. Our room was clean and spacious, we had clean towels every day. Asked down at reception to borrow some wine glasses for the room, lovely to have a cold bottle of wine in the fridge to drink on balcony. Would advise to book a sea view room as we didn’t do this and was overlooking a road, although this didn’t hinder our experience. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area- more than I thought there would be! Fantastic Italian right next door to hotel- highly recommend! Also nice restaurants towards marina right on the waterfront. And if you head the other way towards Cala Marçal beach there are also lots of restaurants and gift shops. Beautiful beach it took my breath away when we first saw it. Sunbeds on beach are €17 for the day which include a lock box. Breakfast at the hotel was nice, we had freshly made omelettes most mornings. Lots of meats/cheeses/pastries to choose from. Beautiful dining room. Paula at reception was really helpful when we asked about caves drach bus route- we were going to just get bus and get tickets there but Paula advised to book beforehand- so glad she did as all tickets were booked that day! We went a few days later, definitely worth a visit and then have lunch in Portocristo afterwards a beautiful fishing port. We also got the bus to palma which is a longer journey but good day out. Also amazing local cafe up the road called Cafe Forn which does excellent coffee and tapas very cheap too. Highly recommend this hotel we are already looking at coming back as the area is just beautiful.

Rooms very clean as always Beds comfy . Food good. Most staff very polite . Second time we have stayed here . Reason for 4 stars .... Unfortunately we will be staying else where next year . This year a few things let the trip down . We paid 50 euros for cocktails at the pool bar . Very weak . Cheap spirit used when we paid full price . The menu says the real spirit aswell . Went to order food and got a grumpy reply and very angry lecture due to me ordering close to closing time . Still 20 mins to order . Also not happy about filling our water bottle with water. No juice at meal times again Not even water . Juice and coffee at breakfast which is good . Kids entertainment fantastic . "Elva" I think her name was . She was brilliant . Very happy and polite great with the children . Overall very good but some things need addressing.

Pros - spotlessly clean room, comfy beds. Nice pool area and spa. Porto Colom very pretty, nice beach nearby and buses to other areas. Several bars/restaurants in the square in front of hotel. Staff helpful and hardworking. Cons - hotel on a busy road so not quiet. Building works in the vicinity (out of hotel's control). Food a bit hit or miss and meal service chaotic. Staff did their best and worked really hard, but not able to clear tables and reset quickly enough, we set our own table several times. Clean cutlery and crockery ran out. No kettle in hotel rooms. Lovely hotel but the area was a bit too quiet for us in the evenings.
