So having done a bit of research there only appear to be large hotels on the seafront, this hotel and the IHG. We chose this as it provided the better package. The hotel is on the beach but there is the main pathway that goes along the beach that passes between the hotel and the beach, which we didn't notice in the pictures. It's not a big issue but just to be clear the public beach doesn't directly connect to the hotel grounds. Our check in was done by Karol who was very helpful and showed us to room 201 which has a balcony overlooking the beach. The room was spacious with a sofa and a large walk in shower. However we noticed during thee night the AC was really loud and the wifi didn't reach beyond the entrance to the room. We spoke to Karol the next day and without us even asking she upgraded us to room 303 which had none of the issues that 201 had. It also had a balcony but is to the side of the building, but had a fantastic freestanding bath in the room. The beach has a while colony of sea lions on it so there's plenty of activity to hear and sea, we even had one wonder into the restaurant! There are no coffee making facilities in the rooms but you can ask for a freshly ground coffee from the restaurant whenever you want. The breakfast was standard fare with a large selection available to order as well as eggs made to order. On Monday nights they have freshly made pizzas which were veery nice and on subsequent nights the main kitchen is open and the food was tasty. The hotel is well located for easy access to the main town and shops a short walk away. -Playa Mann beach 8 minute walk - this is a well developed beach with showers and a restaurant on site, but its small and was quite crowded on a Sunday. -Environmental Interpretation Centre 13 minute walk- This is well worth a visit as it gives through the development and colonisation of the Islands. Its much more informative and bigger than the Darwin Research Centre. -Playa Punta Carola 20 minute walk - You can a taxi to drop you along Avenida Alsacio Northia to a point near the beach and then the walk is about 5 minutes from there. This route walked back is shorter than the once shown on google maps. This beach is worth visiting if you want to swim with sea lions as there were plenty around as well as sea turtles. Its also just a short walk from the main harbour where you pick up your tour boats and where the ferry boats arrive from the other islands. We had excellent service at the hotel, its a boutique hotel remember so you wont get all the frills of a large chain and the service we got from Karol, Nicolas and Josue at the bar was perfect. I'd happily stay here again and would recommend it.

The hotel is well located. Looking out at the sea lions from our balcony was nice. Our room, although spacious felt like it was furnished from Ikea, or maybe the cheap version of Ikea. We had one night light. Weird couch. everything just looked cheaply made. Shower wasn't leveled properly so water was everywhere and it was generally slippery. We also had a corner room of the hotel (I guess) so their wifi did not reach the room. The only time it worked was when you stood against the front door to the room. Dinner at the restaurant was good. We personally wouldn't stay here again.

I usually never write reviews, but this is worth it.. and simply because with a simple gesture they could have made a client at least less angry for the troubles caused and avoid this review.. I spent 2 nights only, from the 31st of December to the 2nd of January. To start: We arranged a car to pick up us the airport, the person who came from the hotel was not careful and when closing the door, smashed the hand of my 6 years old daughter. Not a single act of consideration/respect to say I'm sorry, or any kind of apologies, or even check if she was ok... *No one ever picked up the phone at the reception, so if you ned something you have to come down and talk to someone personally. We informed about this and they claim the network might not be working * Another minor issue: the safe was not working, they came to fix it but agreed that was having issues and offered to replace it.. * We tried to have dinner at the restaurant, and they told us we couldn't because we didn't have any reservation and this should have been informed at the time of check inn. Of course, no one ever informed this at the check inn. *I had a small issue with some ice I ordered that never arrived to the room, and it was solved by Francisco who among the staff together with Wensel are the only ones that showed real care. *Today at check out I asked if they could make a little gesture and grant us a late check out, whatever they could, and the reply without even finishing asking: NO.. Check out is at 10am, and check inn at 13hs. I explained all the issues to the receptionist and told him if he could just help me out with at least an hour or something. And he said that it was not possible. I paid 2105usd for 2 nights.. for 1k a night and after the issues we had a simple gesture would have made it.. Later on, while I was having breakfast he said he talked to the manager and that it could be possible to stay until 12 but if I pay 140 usd. ..so this really made me want to write this review. *Our room had a little view to the beach, so at night you will get to hear the sound of the sea lions..so if you need silence better to ask for a room at the back. *The hotel is super nice, good rooms, good shower, AC and wifi worked smooth, ..but the way they treated us after I told them everything was simply lack of empathy. Never coming back here.. *ah. one more thing, at the time of check out, my luggage was taken b leaving some group operator .. and I have to let them know that I was no part of the group to bring them back to the hotel. So if I didn't informed them, my luggage was probably on the way to who knows where.. so this is just lack of attention, lack of consideration and even more for a guest who showed his disappointment, they should have just have a little consideration.. something, even if it's not possible there is always a way to say I'm sorry, thank you, etc. but they simply didn't care, and opt to ignore (because it reached the manager)... since they are probably fu

Fantastic location just near town and right on the beach. Breakfast was amazing and watching the sea lions added to the experience. Beautiful vegan, vegetarian and fish dishes. Pricey but worth every penny. Staff friendly and helpful but service was a little inconsistent. Good Wi-Fi, room was spacious with good air con. Bathroom was stylish but a bit impractical. Floor tiles very slippy when wet. We liked the 24 hour free tea/coffee and cookie station. Really close to the airport but no noise. Highly recommended.

I have recently had an awesome breakfast at Hotel Golden Bay after a surf session at Tongo reef. The food selection has been amazing. The chef and his team definitely knows how to prepare and present a healthy and tasty breakfast option. The dishes are decorated with edible flowers fresh from their rooftop garden. I am impressed about the concept the hotel has in terms of ecological as well as local production. The view is stunning. If you have breakfast outside you can smell the sea brise and you have the view on the harbour. The service was very courteous:) Golden Bay is for me the perfect choice if you like simplicity in combination of luxury and sustainability.

We booked this hotel through our tour organizer. I don't know how much we paid. It was a nice stay, but I have a feeling that it wasn't worth the price. The service is great. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious. We were supposed to have some sort of special view. If we craned our necks, we could see some water! The wifi worked well and the shower was great. For breakfast, we ordered off a menu. Most everything we had was good. I would not recommend the restaurant for dinner. It was expensive and mediocre.

Nice location, good service (this is important because service is on average deplorable in Galapagos), nice and clean rooms. They have something unique for this town: the hotel has cable TV. No other hotel has that. The bar is good and the decor is well conceived. However: - the shower is not leveled correctly and the bathroom fills with run off water from the shower quickly. - they have no storage room if you want to leave your bags prior check in or after check out, which is at 10 am. If you request a late checkout they will charge you about $ 100 extra. - there is no complementary water in the rooms: they have water bottles at $3/each - the restaurant only opens after 5 pm. And the food is not amazing

Golden Bay is a pretty hotel with front row seating to the ocean and sea lions lounging on the beach all day. It’s a nice experience to be able to sit at their outside bar and watch the sunset while eating and sipping on their tasty drinks. The staff is very nice and welcoming. Sofia, Jessica, Carlos, and Benjamin went the extra mile to accommodate any request we had. Thank you. The food and drinks were really delicious. My husband and I were very impressed with the food selection offered at their restaurant, Muyu. It was truly high quality. The location is really perfect as you are close to everything.

Rather than island hoping on a cruise, we opted to make San Cristobal our base to get a better local’s perspective. Absolutely recommend doing so. Location: The property is on the far end of the boardwalk with an almost private beach where sea lions hang out-amazing! From here, you are within a short walking distance from where the tour operators are located, and the pier for water expeditions. You are also within walking distance of most village amenities, but adequately away from the tourist noise. Property: The grounds are very well kept, and it’s evident that upkeep occurs throughout the day to keep it pristine. The overall feel is of a nature respecting boutique professionally managed hotel, with familiar warmth. We had the chance to stay in two types of rooms, an interior garden room, as well as an ocean view suite. If you are on the fence, we would highly recommend the suites, as they are gorgeous in terms of spacing, lighting, design, and overall comfort. Sunsets are insane! The interior room was clean, practical, and perfect for resting accommodations. The pool is tempered, and the 24hr complementary snack/coffee bar is a gem. Restaurant: MUYU is outstanding. The a-la-carte breakfast buffet is delicious, and a conscious way to enjoy every dish. At dinner time, we enjoyed fresh catch meals, and vegetarian dishes, that well deserve the praise and awards received. It was tough to want to try other restaurants in the area, knowing that every dish was an experience to be remembered. On expedition days, due to early starts, the kitchen provided box-breakfasts with icepacks tailored to our preferences. Details matter! Staff: The heart and soul of every property rely on their staff. Carlos at reception is brilliant, offering genuine care in anticipating requests, while not being overbearing. Harold at Muyu was a key reason why it was tough to try other restaurants! He would describe each dish in a way that would bridge the passion in the kitchen with the curiosity of the guest. We enjoy learning from our travels and felt grateful of the knowledge shared by the staff. The meals are world class; there is no pretentious fakeness in the ambiance and for our type of travels this is a huge plus. The value proposition highly exceeded our expectations, and the cost is very reasonable for what is provided. Lastly, our gratitude to the GM. Prior to the trip coordination-communication was excellent. During the trip, we had Golden Bay to call home away from home where everything worked to make an amazing vacation. Prior to departure, we shared an extended conversation over dinner which was a highlight of our trip. We learned precisely what we cared to learn from a local perspective. It is beyond evident that authentic care goes towards their staff and their guests. Keep up the great work. We are grateful and hope to be back soon! - Pablo & Anabel Note: For future guests here are a few tips. Walking from the hotel to Playa Ma
