Torre Mar Galapagos Boutique Suites

Torre Mar is a well run and excellent hotel close to the city center of Puerto Ayora. John, the owner is very hands on. He arranged our pick up from.Baltra airport with Bolivar who is always punctual. John also booked our RT tickets to Isabela Island. You can tell he loves what he does and it reflects on how he takes pride on running Torre Mar. We had a 1 bedroom.suite with a small kitchenette, the bathroom is equipped with toiletries, a nice rain shower and good water pressure, ac working well and has ample towel supply. If you need help with booking tours and other things, don't hesitate to reach out to John. He's a wealth of knowledge as he grew up in Puerto Ayora and is very personable. The rooms are very clean and the bed comfortable. In our short 2 days in Puerto Ayora, John made us feel.at home and treated us like family. Thank you John for everything and kudos to your team for an A++ accommodation.

Torre Mar is such a great find in the Galapagos. John is super helpful in helping plan excursions and so knowledgable as a former naturalist guide. The apartments at Torre Mar are modern and well equipped. I traveled with a group and we used the social terrace to gather every evening while in Galapagos. If I could give six stars to Torre Mar, I definitely would -- fantastic people & a great location with excellent accommodations.

From the moment we checked in until we departed the service and hospitality from Donna & John, the owners was top notch. We are a family of 4 that traveled the world and we were very fortunate to have been able to find Torre Mar Galapagos, the suites are very well equipped with kitchen, dining and living room, big plus traveling with young kids ages 9-11. We stayed in suite 4 on the fourth level with amazing ocean views and a nice social terrace with a gas grill (No elevator) It was the only hotel (suite) in this category in Galapagos that offered face clothes and bath ropes! Very much appreciated. Coming back from the excursion a working AC was great to have, it can very very hot and humid. If we ever come back, we will definitely stay with Donna & John.

Wow this hotel is amazing. So relaxing and the customer service was outstanding especially John. He has lots of ideas of things to do and see in Galapagos. I enjoyed the ocean view from the social terrace and I would definitely recommend staying here. You won’t be sorry.

WORST. AVOID. DO NOT RISK YOUR TRIP. Reason #1: Owner (John) will enter your room and go through your belongings when you go out. Reason #2: Pretends to be eco-friendly and local ingredients--false. Things like oreos. You get charged $5USD for clean water! They ask you to reuse towels/robes to say they're eco-friendly (same towel for multiple days?). Reason #3: Check out 9:30AM. Owner will bang on your door like the cops by 9:27am. Yes, BANG. Reason #4: NEVER STORE LUGGAGE HERE--steals! Reason #5: We booked based on positive reviews online and patio photos. A lot of the reviews are actually fake. View is actually of broken and regular buildings. Hotel is unexceptional. Room is typical. NOT near the ocean. Reason #6: The room you book will not be available, owner will tell you that you've been "upgraded" but it's NOT an upgrade. Reason #7: Owner will flat out lie to you about the stupidest and serious things. For example, We had one person in our group with a dietary restriction and owner LIED about ingredients-- they had an allergic reaction and he continued to lie. Not safe for kids or anyone. Reason #8: WIFI very bad. Reason #9: There are TONS of nice hotels closer to the central area and ocean view-- with much better prices and amenities including reliable WIFI. Reason #10: If you have any issue or concern owner will NOT help, becomes petty and belligerent. For example, we knew that he had gone into our room when we went out because we caught him, literally hands in the cookie jar, but he lied that he was just checking lock; when we said that didn't make sense, he became angry saying, "fine I'll install a camera in front of your door." (We said that would be great). Then he said, "well why don't you just stay in your room and see what happens." Insanity. Not what you want to deal with on vacation. Do not risk a beautiful and easy trip to paradise by having your one bad experience here. We totally wish we listened to the honest reviews. We left early and stayed somewhere else (easy to find new place). Not everyone is able to do this so save yourself trouble and start your journey literally any where else. NOT RECOMMENDED. BOOK ANY WHERE ELSE.

I am so pleased I chose Torre Mar as the place to stay for my 4 nights in Puerto Ayora. It is the perfect location – away from the main tourist area for quiet evenings but close enough that it is just a 10-minute walk to the area around Charles Darwin Avenue and the many shops and restaurants. Every evening I would go for a stroll around the area just to take in the sights and sounds. I was thrilled with the excellent wifi and my 1-bedroom unit, with its extra-large shower and very comfortable bed. The whole place was so clean, bright, and spacious. The well-stocked kitchen had everything I needed to enjoy a relaxing stay. John, the owner, was always very accessible, pleasant, and helpful. He also arranged my ferry ticket and assisted me with the boarding process for which I was very grateful. I would definitely stay here again if I have an opportunity to return to the Galapagos Islands. The price was very reasonable and the accommodations were 5-star+.
