Having driven from Maribor and decided not to spend the night there we arrived at Ptuj late afternoon with nowhere to stay. We wandered into Hotel Mitra and asked if they had a room and were shown the most lovely room - the nicest in our two week road stip of Slovenia. Our room, 211 Habsburg's Room, was beautifully furnished in historic style with a touch of modern and was very spacious. Also a good price at €125 compared to other places we stayed. The whole hotel is beautifully furnished with lovely pieces of furniture in all the public areas which were also very spacious. We took the stairs each time because we loved the grand staircase so much! The breakfast was really nice with lots of cheeses, cold meats, bread, fruit, salad and good choice of gluten free items too. Hotel Mitra is right in the centre of Ptuj which is not huge but there was a good choices of cafes, bars and restaurants all within a short walk. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here if ever in Ptuj again. A complete aside but I was interested to learn that Aljaž Škorjanec, one of my favourite professionals on the UK's Strictly Come Dancing show, was born in Ptuj!

Lovely hotel and stay with Yuri and Sasha. The a/c wasn’t on yet so we had the windows open. The bar patrons across the street and under us were very loud till very late though.

Very friendli staff (all of them!). Juri helped us upon arrival with our luggage because I had a mobility issue. Our junior suite consisted of a small living room with sofa, armchair, TV and fridge and a good size bedroom with a desk and wardrobe. Looking out of the bedroom window we could see the castle above us. The living room window opened to a lounge in a hallway. The bathroom had a big soak tub and looked as if it had recently been updated. All rooms were very clean. We loved the nostalgic atmosphere which matched the historic outside of the building. The hotel had 4 parking lots close by and we were lucky to have one of them. Although Ptuj is a fairly small town there was a lot to do and to see and the hotel is in the center of it all. We stayed for 3 days and will come back when we are in the area.

Hotel Mitra is a stately old hotel well located in the heart of Ptuj’s historic centre. Steps (sometimes stairs) away from the castle and other attractions in this town with ancient roots. Very good breakfast. Wifi is spotty in rooms but good in common areas

Needs urgent maintenance! In a great location, and was no doubt a greta hotel in it's time. A group of us stayed there, all our rooms like ovens, awful, aircon did nothing. Bathroom shower rose was broken, only sprayed against the wall, bizzare. Bathroom sink plug didn't work. Wifi kept logging off. Worst of all, the the mattress had a prolapse, and had holes in it, seriously! Do they buy these second hand? Such a pity, the staff were helpful, and tried hard.

Parking could be a bit of a challenge. The hotel had a great location convenient to everything including a bunch of dining options. The room was extremely comfortable. The spa area was unique. I had the area all to myself. I think the hotel missed out on a revenue opportunity. The staff was great!
