Hotel Villa Traiano

The hotel location was excellent but the sevice to enter and exit the garage by the auto doors controlled by the front desk was a challenge every day as the staff seem to ignore the constant requests to open the garage or are to busy talking amongst themselves. The shower alcove has a very small opening to enter 36 cm and is tiny once inside making it difficult to have a shower. The staff where all pleasant enough.

Good location, no amenities

I was reluctant to book a room in this based on previous reviews. I took a risk and unfortunately I was wrong booking this hotel. Our room was located on level minus one. That raised an alarm bell. The room had a small window overlooking some closed walled place. The furniture was outdated and had a look from 40 years ago. The two beds were very small. The bathroom also needed renovation. It looks very dark and again a small window. The room is definitely not what is advertised on the hotel website! Parking is available but the garage looks like tiny little warehouse from the 60ties. It cost an extra of 18 Eur. What was most worrying was the lady at the reception was ignorant and incompetent. A better room was available but of course at a supplement. This room is definitely not worth the 198 euro we paid!

Hotel Villa Traiano is a bona fide luxury hotel. U.S. travelers, fear not: when I arrived at Benevento train station I thought, “Oh boy, we’re not in Kansas anymore.” I felt like I was whisked back to the Soviet Bloc with 30-year-old cars and 70-year-old tenement houses. But when the hotel’s (super friendly) private cab driver pulled up in front of the hotel, I was very pleasantly surprised. Villa Traiano is a legit hotel: ultra clean; beautiful, modern finishes; automated sliding glass doors; the whole deal. It is just like any current, high-end hotel you’d find in a major U.S. city. My suite (room 714), like the rest of the hotel, was clean, spacious, and had all expected modern amenities (digitally controlled A/C, beverage fridge, an assortment of high-end soaps, shampoos, and body lotions, plush bath robes, and soft, high-quality bath towels). Highlights included the supremely comfortable bedding, strong water pressure from the rainfall shower head, and the jetted tub. Breakfast was delicious with a full assortment of pastries, juices, yogurt, fruit, and cold cuts, and all the front desk staff were friendly and near-fluent English speakers. From someone who stays regularly at high-end hotels across the U.S., Hotel Villa Traiano comes highly recommended.

Rooms in disrepair. A bar that isn’t open. Slow restaurant service. A throbbing loud teenage party at midnight that makes it impossible to sleep and throngs of people smoking everywhere. The front desk says “nothing can be done” and refuses to give the name of the manager. What a joke.

Lovely clean hotel with plenty of space, on site parking a bonus and in a great location for access to the town. Room only as when we inquired about breakfast, we were disappointed to be told that it was 19 euros per head including our twin 5yr old daughters with NO exceptions. Luckily in the main high street a small cafe was found open on a Sunday morning and we all had drinks and patisseries for 15 Euros.

We stayed in the higher end rooms that are actually in an adjacent building accessed from within the main hotel. People were very professional and helpful. Good dinner reccomendation and a tiny bar off the lobby. Rooms were spotless and a nice design. Quiet and comfortable. They have their own garage, so stop in the lobby and they will direct you in and take your baggage from the garage. Easy walk to restaurants and the main shopping street, which is pedestrian only and feels not only safe, but like it belongs in a much larger city. High end unique shops over 4-5 blocks.

Stopping in Benevento for one night on my way travelling up Italy, I found myself in the Hotel Villa Traiano. Instantly taken with its old fashioned grandeur, I was met by some lovely staff and guided to my clean, very sizeable room that boasted a television, wardrobe, desk and decent sized bathroom, albeit the shower was a bit on the snug side. The room had various quirks that had clearly one been cutting edge such as a radio built into the wall, but personally I think stuff like that adds character, particularly given the aesthetic is mainly traditional. The location genuinely couldn’t be any better, or so it seemed. Located right on the edge of the city centre, acting as a perfect stopping point between the train station and everything you’d want to see. When travelling without car this type of detail is often overlooked. So why the doubt? And why the low score? Well to be honest this place was angling for a score between 4 and 5 out of 5, until I got in on Saturday night, and realised that my room was right above something resembling a nightclub or party venue, which played music LOUD. Truth be told I’m part intrigued by this place, which had a glass ceiling and actually looked really nice, almost wedding venue-style, but that didn’t really help me sleep. It’s a shame because this otherwise took the shine off of what was actually a really nice hotel. If that was some sort of one off party you can disregard this gripe, but if it’s a regular thing I’d be hesitant if you’re looking for a quiet night at the weekend
