Great location with secure parking behind the hotel, friendly staff, comfortable rooms equipped with everything one could need while on the road. Love the ladies bar and library - really charming spaces for guests of all ages to spread out and enjoy the hotel facilities. Restaurant on site is convenient. Note: the hotel is a very charming historic site i.e. not very sound proof. So if you're a light/sensitive sleeper, bring ear plugs.

We were booked into the hotel from 15-17 November 2024. The atmosphere was wonderful. The rooms could do with some fresh decor. I found it strange that next door there's a Mohair shop and also a weavery nearby, but that is not represented in the hotel. The hotel Wi-Fi service requires a ticket which is valid for 24 hours. Wi-Fi should be free for all guests, without any voucher numbers. We then opted for supper in the restaurant on both nights. On the 15th, my friend ordered steak, which she praised, but the chicken with mushroom sauce that I ordered was ordinary. On the 16th, our meal coincided with the SA vs. England rugby match. This was a disaster! There were no waiters in sight, and when we were eventually served, the food was cold and had to be sent back for reheating. The serving team gave a distinct impression that they would rather be watching the rugby. This was very disappointing for what I consider a prestigious hotel and not worth the extra money. The restaurant should be the centrepience with better menu options and top quality cuisine.

We were relegated to one of the rondavels out the back. It was disgusting. The room stank and was musty. That overshadowed our whole experience. We were there for 2 nights. Breakfast was good on the first morning as it was plated and warm. The second morning it was served buffet style and all the food was cold and unpalatable. On departure I was told they are renovating the rondavels. That really didn't help us for our stay for which we paid a premium for terrible accommodation.

We enjoyed our stay. We had a meal at the Victorian room. It was very smart and classy. All the staff and management were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely visit them again for a longer period.
