The stay at Casa Italia was an absolute pleasure. When we arrived at our room we were met with a calming odor. It was a mix between cleaning chemicals, mold and smoke. The smoke came from our lovely neighbours who loved to sit outside during nighttime and enjoy a cigarette. It really helped us get in a cosy mode. A great thing about the hotel was the vintage and eastern feel. The bathroom was my favorite. Thankfully we were able to get our leaking toilet fixed! However, the shower was either boiling or freezing and the shower curtain had more holes than a swiss cheese. The drain and the leaking toilet made the bathroom fill up like a nice spa pool. The watered down soap really helped to elevate this feeling. To go along with it the towels were clearly worn out with more threads than a fluffy rug. After showering in the bathroom you felt more dirty than when you stepped in. The kitchen was amazing. The kettle had mold in it and the microwave did not work, really making it vintage. The glasses were dirty and the cupboards too. Next to the kitchen there was a lovely heating system, the bucket under it was a nice decoration. Above the kitchen there was a loft. The staircase had a lot of broken steps and the railing was barely attached. Obviously it was worn down, just like the pilled pillows. Above all this, my absolute favorite thing with this hotel and the reason I would never even consider staying at it again is the hostile atmosphere. The paper that you receive at check in contains a lot of information, some of it useful, some of it threatening. It clearly states that you should refrain from writing a bad review. Instead you should leave the criticism to the receptionist. This is understandable, nobody wants a bad review. What is not understandable is that they say they are open to constructive criticism but when it is given in a review they reply sassy and unprofessional. For example answering one booking review and stating how the guest has unreasonably high standards just because they were given a city fee that was not stated when booked. And also writing that a guest exaggerated when saying that there was no hot water. Moreover, the person answering the reviews will leave unnecessary comments about the guest such as “You also did not respond when we asked how you want to make the beds…”. Obviously this is not a way to treat paying guests leaving absolutely true reviews! The public blacklist on instagram really helped us feel at home, because what serious hotel does not have a blacklist! If you live on the ground floor you will also have the pleasure of hearing the bins be emptied several times every morning. This is a great wake up call. So if you love worn down hotel rooms, weird smells and cold water this hotel is for you! The good thing is that it was cheap. The price is extremely cheap so of course it is not going to be the best, but an actually clean room with working appliances should not be “excessive needs” and too “high stand

This was a great place for our family to stay while we explored Prague! The metro station was just around the corner with easy links to downtown. There was a paid public garage just a minute walk away and plenty of shops & restaurants all close by. There was a some street noise, but that is to be expected when you are staying within a city. The receptionist on duty when we arrived was incredibly friendly & helpful. We observed him dealing with a frustrating situation outside of his control very patiently.
