This is a great hotel in a fantastic location in the lesser town which is a 5 min walk from Charles bridge so handily placed for the livelier parts of Prague. The service was excellent with Prosecco included as part of your breakfast and complimentary cheese wine at 4:30 for 30mins. The spa is excellent and good way to relax following a day of exploring the city. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Absolutely amazing. No other way to put it. We were greeted by the doorman while getting our luggage out of our Uber, after an incredibly long and frustrating day of travel. He quickly escorted us in to the reservation desk. No, not to stand in line at the check in counter! To the desk, where you sit down and have a glass of Prosecco while they confirm your details. Maybe the norm at luxury hotels, but not what we are used to. The property is amazing, originally built in the 1500’s, lots of amazing art, outdoor gardens and sitting areas. Quickly taken to our room, smallish by US standards but huge for an EU property! Bathroom has a full size sitting tub, which the wife quickly claimed. Later we enjoyed cheese and wine at the complementary gathering. Came back after dinner for a glass of wine and chocolate in their outdoor restaurant. We booked spa appointments the following morning ,charming area and a great massage. Only stayed two nights, wish we had more time. Worth the money, book it!!!

Loved our stay at this lavish, ideally situated hotel. It’s a 5-minute downhill walk to Charles Bridge and a 15-minute uphill walk to the castle. The area is quiet and away from the bustle of the city crowds. All staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful, achieving the balance between formality and friendliness. Housekeeping kept the place immaculate. The bed was super comfy and the aircon was a blessing during a hot August week. The bottled water and delicious complimentary chocolates (made at the hotel and left in our room each evening) were much appreciated. A sumptuous breakfast set us up for a day of exploring, and in particular we enjoyed the freshly cooked omelettes from the menu and the variety of fresh fruit. Food and service at the Aquarius Restaurant in the evening was superb and we visited the delightful cafe on several occasions to enjoy the array of sweet treats, coffee and an occasional cocktail! Guests can mingle over free cheese and wine hosted by the hotel at 4.30pm each afternoon. It’s a great way to meet each other under the sparkling chandeliers or in the beautiful courtyard. We used the spa for a quick dip and some much needed relaxation. Overall, this was a very enjoyable luxury break.

I stayed here for a week to attend a friend’s wedding. To focus on the positive - a very quaint hotel with a nice decor and feel to the interior, a lovely courtyard restaurant with excellent food ( at the pricier end of the scale); nice spa, quieter location away from the crowds, great breakfast choice, porter was extremely helpful, nice to have conditioner as well as shampoo, and the touch of having free wine tasting at 16.30 is really appreciated. What was a bit of a challenge for me were some of the details - I initially had a deluxe double room which was really perfect for me and when I extended my stay for an extra few days due to unexpected change of circumstances I was told I could stay in it but later that day I was told I had to move to accommodate a disabled guest which was understandable but a nuisance to move. I was upgraded to the very nice Royal Suite so that helped smooth things over. Unfortunately it is on the 3rd floor and the lift was having issues so I had to use the stairs - these things happen but it was tiring. What was really annoying though was that the hotel restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday night so if you stay on those nights you have to find alternatives which isn’t really what I expect from a 5 star hotel a little out of the centre. The pool was pretty but more of a plunge pool than for swimming. The service was a bit hit and miss with the porter and breakfast staff really good and the evening staff a bit more variable. I would stay here again but maybe not on a Sunday or a Monday as you can’t eat in the hotel and options nearby are limited and I would wary of extending a stay (especially on booking but they offered the best rates. I think if they close the restaurant the least they can do is have the bar open with some lighter food so that you can at least get something on a Sunday or Monday night without having to go out.

We stayed at the Alchymist for a family vacation from the US and arrived here from Paris . We are a family kid four including two kids 8 and 5 and got the family suite. The hotel is very charming and beautiful. It truly feels like you are transported back in time to a palace from at least a 100 years ago. The charm does mean the hotel is somewhat dated and while the lobby areas are very pretty the room was more dated but still a charming overall (not a bad thing just what one should expect). We were hoping to have dinner at Acquarius but there was a mix up where the staff didn’t inform us it would be closed the day we arrived (Sunday). We did eat breakfast there each morning at Acquarius and it was quite good. Overall a charming hotel, in a decent location (pros and cons of being across from the US embassy). The spa was also good.

We stayed for 5 nights at the hotel. It is near the American Embassy which has 24 hour armed guards …so no problem with crime or speeding cars. It is also close to St Vitus and the castle complex. Initially we had a room that overlooked an (occasionally) very loud alley way. After discussing our lack of sleep with the office staff, they quickly changed us to another room. The beds and room configurations are comfortable. The hotel is about 500 years old and has a unique historic charm. If you have mobility issues, you might find getting in and out of the tub/shower difficult. The public areas and rooms are decorated with a lot of gold Rocco furnishings. The included breakfast was good and the 4:30 included wine & cheese hour was a lovely surprise. The first morning we ate breakfast, I commented to a staff member that the eggs, baked beans, bacon, etc. was not hot. We didn’t have that problem again after that. The staff were all lovely, welcoming and attentive to the needs of the guests. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when we come back to visit the jaw dropping beauty of Prague.
