My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bahia Esmeralda. It was quiet and peaceful. The room was big and the kitchen was nicely stocked. I thought the breakfast was good and we ate breakfast every morning while staying there. We walked to a nearby beach, Playa Penca, and spent the day there. It took about 10 minutes to walk to this beach. I would stay here again.

Reminds me of Club Med 90s. Clean, vacation-oriented. Pool in middle of villas, which have kitchens. Lush landscaping. Breakfast option but the town has MANY choices next door and down the street. Beach is 2 blocks away. Villas 12 & 13 were as described: I had a studio. My sons were in he 2Br which also had an additional sleeper.

Check in at 2pm and check out at 11am, you lose basically one day, we requested to stay in gardens for at most 30 min and they said NO. The employees treatment was very cold and poor, not friendly at all. We felt like if they were giving us a favor for book their hotel

We rented the two bedroom bungalow and found it to be very comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The garden is lovely with lots of hummingbirds and flowers. The best part for us was Bahia, the cat. She is funny and smart and such a great comfort after losing our cat not so long ago. There is a beach near by and stores and restaurants. A good place if you don’t have a car.

Lovely rooms with a nice rustic feel and very clean. Powerful shower with hot water. The rooms are really fresh with good ceiling fans and air con. They keep their coolness when out and it's switched off too, which is a godsend after a day in the heat. Lovely well kept grounds and a nice warm pool, which was lovely to come back to after a day exploring. Decent breakfast included, we opted for the tipico breakfast, which set us up for the day. The only downfall for us was that the WiFi didn't reach our room. As we were travelling with a toddler we were in our room early each night and could really have done with it working in our room so we could research the local area etc at night. Instead we ended up having to do it during breakfast/by the pool, which wasn't ideal. The hotel location is great for exploring the local area. Playa Penca is within walking distance from the hotel, it's a beautiful beach. There's a few good sodas really close by, Soda Marcell, La Jama and Soda Maria Teresa. We enjoyed eating at them all and particularly liked the family who run Soda Maria Teresa. There is also a decent ice cream parlour around the corner and pizzeria with delicious pizzas (La Pizzetteria). Las Brisas bar on the beachfront is also a good spot for some drinks! We weren't around long enough to explore the other eateries on offer. There's also a mini supermarket close by for any essentials/snacks! We really enjoyed our short stay in the town and liked that the area the hotel is in hasn't been ruined by tourism and still has a local Costa Rican feel to it unlike some areas nearby. Gracias :-)

Bahia Esmeralda is the perfect place for a family getaway. We relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful amenities, amazing pool, and stunning gardens. The sounds of nature—iguanas, hummingbirds, various birds, and even monkeys waking us up each morning—were incredible. The delicious breakfast and pleasant walks to the beautiful beaches of Penca and Prieta were highlights of our stay, along with strolls and dining at nearby restaurants. The place is immaculately clean and relaxing. We especially loved the two friendly cats, Kiko and Smoking, who added a special charm to our experience. The staff, particularly Rosemary, were exceptional, going above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. From serving wonderful typical Tico breakfasts to providing top-notch tourist tips, they ensured we had the best “PURA VIDA” experience. Highly recommend Bahia Esmeralda! Bahia Esmeralda es el lugar perfecto para unas vacaciones en familia. Nos relajamos y disfrutamos de las hermosas instalaciones, la increíble piscina y los impresionantes jardines. Los sonidos de la naturaleza—iguanas, colibríes, diversas aves e incluso monos despertándonos cada mañana—fueron increíbles. El delicioso desayuno y los agradables paseos a las hermosas playas de Penca y Prieta fueron lo mejor de nuestra estancia, junto con los paseos y cenas en los restaurantes cercanos. El lugar está impecablemente limpio y es muy relajante. Nos encantaron especialmente los dos gatos amigables, Kiko y Smoking, quienes añadieron un encanto especial a nuestra experiencia. El personal, especialmente Rosemary, fue excepcional, yendo más allá para hacer nuestra estancia inolvidable. Tranquilidad total, cuartos muy comodos, desayuno excelente, cafe super , cerca de la playa caminando , piscina buena y area de parqueo seguro , personal muy serviciales, no tiene Restaurant pero hay varios restaurants en la zona Regresaremos proxima vacacion

Très belle chambre, cuisine très bien équipée et spacieuse, Accueil tip top comme le personnel du petit déjeuner, belle piscine, joli jardin... Comme nous étions en basse saison pas de restauration mais plein de soda/restaurants à proximité. Tout est bien conçue avec à l'arrière du bungalow bac pour laver son linge, robinet pour les chaussures, étendoir... Bref un des hôtels les mieux conçus du Costa Rica. Nous avons regretté de n'être pas restés 3 nuits.
