The property impresses with luxurious facilities, clean and spacious rooms, and friendly staff. However, some guests found the breakfast overpriced and not worth the cost.

Beautiful hotel absolutely stunning scenery! The food wasn’t great, considering the price point which is a bad reflection of Dominican cuisine in all honesty. The breakfast buffet was the worst I’ve ever been to in all my years of travelling and I always feel so embarrassed to send things back or not finish food as it is rude in my culture but both times I went to the breakfast buffet I was extremely disappointed only managed to eat some yogurt and fruits! Staff was amazing super sweet very polite and helpful.

I recently had the most harrowing experience of my life during my stay at the Intercontinental Dominica, an ordeal that has left me shaken and deeply traumatized. We stayed at the hotel May 4th to 6th as guests of the DominicanTourism Board, upon arrival on a beautiful Saturday evening, my companion and I were taken in by the resort's stunning aesthetics, providing a false sense of security. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and retired to our room, expecting a peaceful night’s rest. However, at a little after 1 am, our worst nightmare unfolded: someone entered our room while we were asleep. The sheer terror of waking up to an intruder in our room is indescribable. The vulnerability of two women asleep, only to be awakened by the presence of a stranger, is a danger I wouldn't wish on anyone. In a panic, we tried to reach the front desk, but our calls went unanswered. We had no choice but to walk to the front desk, utterly frightened, to report the incident. We were told, quite nonchalantly, that it was a member of staff who was tasked with fixing the ac in unoccupied rooms. This response did little to alleviate our fears or provide any comfort. The following day, no one contacted us regarding the incident, and the manager was notably absent. Seeking some semblance of normalcy, we decided to spend the day at the pool. However, upon returning to our room, we found ourselves locked out. We encountered a supervisor, to whom we recounted the terrifying events of the previous night. Her response was limited to mere apologies, a grossly insufficient reaction given the gravity of the situation. Later, as we prepared to go out, another shocking breach of security occurred: a guest tried to enter our room using a key that luckily did not work. Once again, no apologies were offered, and our sense of safety was further eroded. On the day of our checkout, the manager, Pascale Selwan, was finally available. We had to seek her out ourselves, and she offered an apology and a complimentary night’s stay for our next visit. Nearly a month after our stay, we received the certificate, only to find it addressed to the same and incorrect name. This added insult to injury, highlighting the sheer incompetence and lack of sensitivity from the hotel's management. For a high-end hotel that promises luxury and security, the Intercontinental Dominica’s handling of our ordeal was woefully inadequate. The dangers we faced, the lack of care and the unsatisfactory resolution were appalling. This experience has left a lasting mark, and I urge future guests to be aware of the potential risks. Our safety and peace of mind were grossly compromised, making this stay an unforgettable nightmare. At this point no free one night stay can make up of this horrible experience.

I found the poor reviews of this property are, if they ever were, inaccurate. If you have read any of my other reviews you will know that I am not easily impressed. This is a true 5 star resort on the scale of the Four Seasons. The entire property, rooms, and restaurants are immaculate. Service was outstanding. Breakfast bar (included in some room rates) was outstanding in variety, quality and service. Eggs to order or waffles are cooked and table side in less than 5 minutes. The property is a one hour drive from the airport through treacherous winding roads full of pot holes. I am an adventurous driver, but this drive was just plain dangerous. The foreign drivers were the worst, often rounding the blind curves in the middle of the highway. If you’re not willing to take that adventure call the hotel and inquire about shuttle service. I know DG Tours offers shuttle service. The conditions of the long drive and relatively high cost per night probably explains why the property is virtually vacant. I’m here during Carnival and at noon there are 4 families next to the enormous pool. If I saw 20 rooms with their lights on in the evening, that would be a high side estimate. Beautifully landscaped beyond most 5 star hotel. Waterfront rooms are really “water view”. Our room faces the water but the huge pool and restaurant are in the forefront. Days were 85 degrees and nights 75 Definitely an excellent choice if you’re looking for a high quality experience.

( my opinion) Best place ever!! Nature at its best....Walking trail and i had a fitness session booked but it got cancelled so the masseuse made up for it. Helpful staff but for one who was a tad confrontational when I showed up at 6:59am for breakfast at 7am I left a review on IHG ALREADY THNX .................................................................................................................................. .. .

Stayed here for 4 nights and loved the property and the setting. As it was low season, being one of the few guests on resort made it feel like you had the space for yourself! The three F&B venues opened alternatively for the different meal periods which was okay considering the handful of guests on resort however the service was left wanting. You would think that since there were so few guests, the staff would pay more attention to those were there but that was not the case. Staff at the restaurants and bar were present but could not be found when you really needed them. We would share an appetizer but no sharing plates were offered. Cutlery was cleared after appetizers, no replacement was not offered even after main course was served. Tables missed salt or pepper or both most times at breakfast, drinks ordered served after we finished our appetizers for dinner on our last night and the list goes on. Although these may seem small, it's not what you expect of a five star property - especially an Intercontinental.

This was an AMAZING experience. At the end of a two-week trip to Dominica and Guadeloupe and back to Dominica, we chose the Intercontinental for a final treat. It was utterly worth it! The room was gorgeous, the property exquisite, and the staff all very friendly and good. I also want to alert visitors that there is nice snorkeling directly from the property in Douglas Bay.

We actually visited as a family of 4 (with a 17 & 20 year old) in Dec 19/Jan 20 over Xmas & NY when the new hotel had just opened as a Kempinsky. It was a wonderful stay, and we were upgraded to the Presidential villa, which was fantastic. Very spacious, 2 bedrooms, large living dining area, full kitchen, plus large pool and outdoor deck, lounge and dining area. Other pools on property were huge as well, with tons of chairs. Dining & drink options were really good, and we ate most meals at resort, unless we were out on a tour. Lots of activities on the island too - hiking, whale watching, dive or snorkel, and our favourite, the canyoning adventure.

InterContinental Dominica is one of the most breathtaking properties in the Caribbean. It is surrounded by Dominica's lush mountains, giving it a serene feel throughout. The rooms are very spacious and bright, and can easily accommodate a family of 4. The downside, however, is that IHG's strict policy does not allow for more than 3 guests in a room (even when paying for a rollaway bed.) The staff are extremely courteous and went out of their way to be helpful. Chefs Suresh, Alana, and Dipu made extraordinary Trini and Indian meals made especially at our request! The bartender, Brad, was very friendly and made delicious fresh fruit drinks. The general manager, Pascale, interacted with the guests frequently and made sure we were comfortable. The hotel is situated right on the beach, but during the time of our stay (Feb 2024), there were big rocks preventing us from going in the water. The sea, however, was clear and beautiful. All in all, the InterContinental allows you to explore Dominica's wild beauty, while coming back to the comfort of a 5 star resort.
