I stayed here with my daughter for 2 nights in July 2023. Location Getting a taxi from the airport was quick and easy the taxi rank just outside arrivals. We arrived around lunchtime and got a taxi easily, plenty waiting and no queue. The journey to the hotel wasn't too long. Arriving at the hotel you do have to carry your case up a few steps at the entrance just something to be aware of, and my case was fairly weighty as we were away for a week in total. Not sure if there is another entrance to the hotel. There is a small lift to the room, we never had any trouble getting the lift when we needed it. There weren't any stairs that we could see other than the fire escapes. Once inside the hotel had a cool calm traditional feel to it. The staff on reception were really lovely and check in went smoothly. We were given vouchers for a complementary drink at the bar One of our rooms wasn't ready, we arrived about 1pm but we were able to get the key for one room which was great meaning we could drop our luggage off in the room and freshen up. My room was a reasonable sized well equipped double. I think some of the other reviews I read suggested the rooms were dated. I thought of them more as traditional style. Dark wood fittings. There was plenty of storage, a safe, comfy chair as well as desk and chair. TV with good selection of channels, mini bar, complimentary water and a packet of crisps. The bathroom was a good size, complimentary toiletries and a generous sized bath with shower over. All in all a very comfortable room which I felt was good value for what we had paid. My daughter had what i think was described as a family room so not sure whether they put an extra bed in if required but it was a really good sized double think it had a king size bed. They gave us rooms next to each other on the first floor which was nice The room had a large window overlooking the terrace below which let in a lot of light. I can't comment on breakfast as we were on a room only basis. There is a lovely bar area and outside terrace. Only downside the wooden tables and chairs outside did look particularly worn they were just in need of a fresh coat of wood stain really. The hotel was on a quiet street within walking distance of the old part of Porto. There was a bar/cafe just down from the hotel and a small supermarket just on the next street about a minute away perfect for stocking up on snacks and things and the after sun we forgot to pack. Very reasonably priced and taking card and cash. Just one thing to bear in mind I found that I used more cash than I expected quite a few of the bars and cafes we went in only took cash so something to plan for as I think I had got into a habit of carrying very little actual cash these days. It doesn't take long to walk from the hotel to the river, albeit we went down some very steep streets and steps. Porto is very hilly but well worth the effort of all the climbs Less than 10 min

The single rooms are very small, but sufficient for a multi-day city trip. The hotel is very clean and completely renovated. Complimentary water is also offered. The staff are very friendly and gave me a lot of tips on arrival and were very helpful. The reception is not open 24 hours. When I rented a bike for several days (also overnight), I could store it inside in the luggage room (got a key for it). Very accommodating and recommended. Location is also ideal.

Comfortable rooms and location easy enough to get into all parts of the city using Uber, which are very reasonable and cost around 3 euros to the furthest point at the river. You could walk but my father has some mobility issues and the uber was much faster, allowing us to expore poroto without tiring from the walk into town. The hotel is kept well, is cosy and inviting once inside, dont be put off by the exterior. Rooms were very well designed for the price bracket. Attention to detail of items in the bathroom need to be addressed though. Soap dish was loose on the wall as was the faucet on the bathroom sink. Small details that bring an otherwise very nice room below its potential. Although a little firm for me, I still slept very well on the bed. No external noise heard and quiet and effective air conditioning. The safe was an issue for me. We had 2 rooms and the safe was not bolted into the wardrobe, you could remove the safe if you wanted to. This makes the safe redundant and concerned me. The front desk also do not have their own safe for guest valuables. However we had no issued and our belongings remained untouched. The hotels did lock our belongings into a storage room on our last day. I would definitely stay here again and I think this hotel offers both an element of luxury whilst remaining a mid priced option. The staff were also very helpful and attentive.

Decent hotel, very clean not too far from the tourist places. All the staffs are very nice. Especially Ms. Sophia (Breakfast Buffet Area) who’s always present whenever we need anything. The room is clean, they clean everyday but they forgot to refill the liquid body soap container. Needed to ask the reception for a refill and they’re action was prompt. It’s just that it’s a bit hot (AC not so good) Overall, we had a lovely stay.

Stayed here for 7 nights and was in 3 different rooms. Good News: Staff is great, especially Joanna and Marina (?) at front desk, and Paulo (?) and other bellman Overall decor is dated and needs refurbishing. Comments re: rooms… Room 234: Larger and very quiet with robe/slippers. Headboard is torn. Bathroom door in the way of toilet & bidet; need to close door to access. … Rm 232: Corner Suite. Beautiful but TOO NOISY. Despite wearing earplugs, closing double-paned windows + lowering electronic blackout shades outside bedroom window, still had trouble sleeping due to street noise (trucks, motorcycles, etc). Noise through evening and early morning hours when bins picked up. Windows need another layer to soundproof… Room 411: New side of hotel, VERY small room; no slippers/robe offered, better layout of bathroom. No view but very quiet. Bad news: For the amount charged per room (almost €200/night or more) + standard hotel tries to maintain, complimentary coffee and water should be available every day of stay, not just day #1. Beautiful view and good food from rooftop bar but VERY SLOW service. Tips: Location is by river so about 1-2 miles from city center which is uphill from hotel. Other option is to use Uber. Tram stop and supermarket conveniently located within 1-2 blocks of hotel. Can take tram toward Dom Luis Bridge to check out restaurants with great river views: Bacalhau (very small and don’t take reservations) or Vinhas d’Alho restaurant next door, takes reservations and has more outdoor seats. Overall: Wonderful, helpful and accommodating staff in lovely location but you could find better value other places, like the many ”AL” accommodations (private apartments similar to Airbnb).

Having had to leave our previous 'hotel' as it was so horrendous we arrived here where we were greeted with very friendly staff and a warm lobby. They sorted us a room and must have given us a really nice room following our bad experience as we were on the 6th floor at the back with a lovely view of the city. The room itself was really quite large and the bed was extremely comfortable. We slept so well! There was a TV, free wifi, AC/heating and a really nice bathroom. The bar/room service menus were reasonably priced and the staff had great knowledge of the city. The hotel itself is about a 5/10 minute walk from the main station you arrive in to from the airport which was really handy for our early journey on our final day. Would stay here again if I went back to Porto!

GGuest UserNo words.... Has been a trip INSIDE a subway construction area .... And I am not kidding unfortunately. I have reserved a single room kind bed. At beginning the reception assigned me one room at 4th floor exactly in front of jackhammer operators, which made the same noises as in war scenario with 2 beds. Then after my immediate big complain reception have assigned me another room, #209. Different scenario : that was in front of a concrete grinding crane arrives from 8pm in the morning until 10pm in the evening. at 7am the noises of the vehicles began with the relative movement alarm and in the evening after 10pm the workers who hammer gradually finished at 1am in the night. all i have timed videos to prove my experience. I asked several times to assign me a room ON OTHER SIDE (that are outside the ”war operation area”) but answer was always _ ”SORRY SIR, THE ROOM ON BACKSIDE ARE FULL AND WE DO NOT HAVE SPACE AVAILABLE” . Today at check out I have asked a discount, as feedback the receptionist charged me 20EUR more for 2 peer juices I have got from minibar...... I do not know how to describe this experience, I have been many times in Intercontinental and I have been always satisfied.... BESIDE THIS LAST TRIP THAT IS REALLY SOMETHING I WANT TO FORGET Travellers' take extreme care going there !! At least until the subway works under room balcony are finished !!! Can not upload pictures the website tell me ”unable to lad” but I can sent ll of them separately

GGuest UserWow- what a great location and eclectic hotel. Staff was very welcoming, happy, energetic and went out of their way to offer directions and recommendations to restaurants. Clean room, crisp sheets, well maintained. The hotel itself is right across the street from the Cathedral and is central to so many tourist sites, restaurants and shops. We truly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend this hotel.

VVoyager22474143875Recently stayed here as part of my husbands 70th birthday, hotel kindly upgraded us to a deluxe room and there was a small cake waiting for us which was a lovely touch. The room was really lovely, only downside is that they only give you 1 free bottle of water per visit and only few pods for coffee machine which given it was a deluxe room a bit poor. However, apart from this small glitch, everything else we could not fault at the hotel. Bed was very comfortable, reception staff were very helpful in advising us on on areas to visit. Lovely continental breakfast and cooked one but not to order so on hot plates instead, local restaurants nearby which I would recomend are Solar Moinho de Vento & Meia Nau, which are both 5 mins walk away.

GGuest UserI have stayed in this hotel recently for weeks on end, so I think I can write with some authority about what kind of hotel it is and what can go wrong from the customer's point of view. Perhaps the biggest issue is noise. There appears to be little soundproofing between the rooms, and it is clearly unfit for purpose. Worse still is how the noise can sometimes be dealt with. On a recent visit I had a very unpleasant experience on my first night back to the hotel. At 1am, there was a lot of noise from the room of one of my neighbours. I called reception and spoke with Claudio, the person in charge. I explained the situation and asked to change to another room. Claudio sounded sceptical and said he was going to check the room from where I said the noise seemed to be coming. I told him that I was hearing noise not from the corridor but from my room, and predicted that he might not necessarily hear anything from the corridor. He phoned me back and said: ”the weirdest thing is that I heard no noise”. I told him it wasn’t at all “weird” and reminded him of what I had said. He suggested that I move to the room next door - the other side of the room from where the noise was coming. I told him I wanted to move away from, not stay beside, the noisy room. Soon after I moved to the new room, a couple entered a neighbouring room and started to shout and argue. I spoke to Claudio again. He sounded even more impatient now, and again expressed doubt that there was any noise occurring. He told me that I could move to yet another room - but warned me: ”you will still have neighbours no matter where you go.” It was now after 2am, and I was exhausted. Claudio's badge was not visible as he walked in front of me, and so I asked him what his name was. He turned around and said ”Claudio” and then pointed to his badge and said, sarcastically, ”you can see it on my badge.” I asked him not to patronise me, that I was not stupid, and also that I did not have to be reminded that there are always neighbours in a hotel. I reminded him that, as a frequent visitor to Eurostars hotels (I had spent almost 4 of the previous 12 months living in them in and around Porto) that I had never encountered such unprofessional, patronising, rude and arrogant behaviour from a Eurostars employee or one from any other hotel. Eurostars later asked me to give an account of my stay there. I told them about the above experience. I did not receive any response from them. However, when I spoke about the incident to the manager, Marco, he told me he was aware of my complaint. His position about it was strangely ambivalent. After apologising, he qualified the apology with: “I would ask you to look at it from our point of view.” His point that we all have bad nights. True enough, but there are limits to what a customer should be expected to tolerate. Another night, after 1am, when I asked to change room again due to noise next door, another person in charge, Ruben, curtly told me I could on

GGuest UserI arrived at the hotel on 20 November 2022 for a 5 night stay. The stay was business related and with so many hotels to choose from, I decided to go with the Porto Palacio. What an excellent choice! The hotel is absolutely brilliant - I cannot find a fault. Check-in was very smooth and on arrival to the room - wow - very modern, crisp clean sheets on the bed and a spacious room. In terms of food, the Breakfast experience was the best part of the stay for me. I have stayed in many hotels around the world - both on a personal basis and a business basis - I can honestly say that the breakfast staff at the Porto Palacio are the best I've ever come across. On arrival, I was seated quickly. On Day 1, the staff members memorised what I had that cannot be chosen by the buffet - for example, a tea and two plates (as I like two plates) - on Days 2 and for the rest of the trip, I didn't even need to ask. I was called by my Title and Surname on arrival. The whole experience was brilliant. I would like to mention a lady called Rosa and another lady (they both greet staff members at the door) - their hospitality skills are great and they are always smiling - nothing is too much for them. I didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening but had room service as personally, I like to relax after a day at the office. The food was of good quality and was tasty and piping hot. I used the gym during my stay - the gym is open to members of the public, therefore is not your usual hotel gym. It's huge - there are loads of machines and I was never waiting for someone to finish using something. Staff members are friendly. All in all - a brilliant stay and is a genuine 5 star hotel! I will return to the Porto Palacio both on a business basis and also on a personal basis - Porto looks like a great city! It's a shame that I didn't have time to look around as I had a busy schedule but I will certainly be back! Thank you!!
