Change the World Hostels - Porto - Santa Catarina

I stayed 2 nights in the hostel in a double room with ensuite. The location would be difficult to beat. Rua de Santa Catarina is a main pedestrian shopping street and the Hostel is within half a block of a metro station. I arrived quite late and entry was by code at the street door and to the room. The staff were not there at that time but there was a "volunteer" in the kitchen who helped in showing me where the room was and how to open the door. The kitchen is one flight up and my room was 2 more, all stairs. You need to be ready to carry your bag up and up again. The stairs have no handrails which I found a bit disconcerting when coming down. The room was quite big with a queen bed, luggage stand and 2 chairs. The ensuite had separate rooms for the toilet and shower. There were 2 windows opening out onto the pedestrian street. Everything was neat and very clean. There was some noise from the street but closing the windows blocked it pretty well and airline earplugs completed the job. I slept very well. There is a small kitchen and living room for guests which I didn't use. It comes with a balcony looking over the street and a separate door code. The wifi was pretty slow in my room and I didn't try it anywhere else. This hostel gave me so much more than expected for the very reasonable price and is recommended for those who don't mind just a bit of low level street noise.
