Grand Hotel in Porto Cervo

The Grand Hotel is an absolute gem of a hotel. Starting with the quality of the service, the staff is generally positive and helpful, led by the delightful Romina, who ensures that guests feel at home. The location is superb, just a short stroll away from a breathtaking beach. I also enjoyed the large swimming pool, perfect for doing my laps in the morning. Our room was large and quiet, overlooking a private garden. Maddalena and her team kept it immaculate, always with a smile on their faces. Overall, I would say the Grand Hotel fully deserves its name, with the understated chic of timeless Italian venues.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, attentive and kind staff, the reception room was a love and super attentive especially the romina. New and clean rooms, the wonderful pool bar, beautiful and fast service. The breakfast was delicious with several options. A lovely hotel with beautiful pool and access to a fabulous beach. Comfortable beds and lovely large bathroom. Rooms cleaned every day to a very high standard.Staff were very friendly in particular Romina, Luca and all the reception staff. Stayed here twice and hoping to return next year .

Our arrival at the hotel started well with a friendly welcome, but unfortunately, that was the first and last human interaction of any substance during our stay. The overall experience felt more like renting a serviced room than staying in a hotel; everything functioned, but the sense of hospitality was completely missing. The pool area is lovely, peaceful and well-maintained and our garden-view room was spacious with a clean, modern bathroom and a great shower. Car parking was convenient and secure with electric gates. However, there were a number of issues that made the stay less enjoyable. The hotel lacks atmosphere and warmth. It feels understaffed or overly automated, with no personal touch. Special mention must go to the lifeguard; a man so committed to the cause that he’d sooner watch you melt into the sun lounger than risk a gust of wind nudging an umbrella over. I’ve never met anyone so passionately against shade. If jobsworth were an Olympic sport, he’d take gold, though oddly, his enthusiasm seemed to spike whenever a young woman needed “supervising.” Breakfast was just okay, standard buffet with nothing memorable. Tables were often left uncleared or not reset in time. One major problem was the noise from the room above. I was woken multiple times throughout the night by the sound of high heels, showers, and even the kettle boiling. The lack of soundproofing seriously affected our rest. In summary, while the hotel looks great on the surface, it lacks the warmth, service and comfort we hoped for. I think next time, we’ll try somewhere else – ideally somewhere where shade and sleep are more freely available

The Grand Hotel Porto Cervo Sardinia truly lives up to its name. From our late arrival (1 a.m.) handled professionally and indeed curtiously by the helpful man on Reception checkin was seamless. As we were lead to our room we were informed that since we had missed dinner a cold cuts platter was awaiting us in our room. Breakfast was leisurely with a variety of options to choose from all overseen by friendly, helpful and courteous staff. The large pool and surrounding area was clean and spacious with many secluded seating and lounge options available. The cabana style bar/dining area was nicely busy with the most helpful staff doing everything they could to allow you have an enjoyable holiday. The hotel has a private beach accessed by several paths. Be sure to have a meal in the Beach Club Restaurant during your stay. Friendly, helpful, attentive and non intrusive wait staff serve from a very varied menu only matched by the spectacular ocean view. Fine dining at it's best. Simply delicious. The loungers on the private beach are for rent and have three tier pricing but many just spread out their beach towels on pristine sand and enjoy the sun. The water is crystal clear and the sand is combed to make this little cove a great way to relax either swimming, sunbathing or yacht watching. Room service kept the rooms spotless as indeed the cleanliness throughout the hotel was a high priority. Top tip. Rent a car to get around.
