Cape Nelson Lighthouse

We loved our 2 night stay in the Head Keeper’s cottage. Number 4. We felt very comfortable as soon as we walked through the door, and the breakfast provisions left were very welcome. It was very clean and we felt that all our needs were met. Walks at your doorstep, kangaroos visiting and lovely photo opportunities. We would not hesitate to recommend this property. The open fire was very cosy. We could have used a little more wood but we easily grabbed a bag from IGA to get through the second night. Overall, a lovely two days. Thankyou.

Lovely location with wonderful views. Handy also to Portland and Cape Bridgewater. It was very special staying in a former Assistant Lighthouse Keeper's house. The standard of accommodation was fine but not five star. Breakfast goodies were welcome. Our host did his absolute best to sort a television reception problem at the start of our stay, even smoothing the way with a bottle of bubbly!

This was a beautiful location, isolated, quiet and with nature all around. Yje sunset and sunrise were amazing. All facilities were excellent and we hope to stay again.

This is a very unique property as it is an older caretaker cottage for the lighthouse at Cape Nelson. That being said, the hiking trails around are amazing and the views are spectacular, you are quite literally steps from an ocean overlook. It is a bit far from town and services but if you plan ahead there is a BBQ and complete cooking facilities to do on your own. The property is older but overall very well kept and at night it is SO quiet. The TV is older and did not have an antenna hooked up, something was wrong with the connection but hopefully easily fixed. There is a DVD player with a library of choices. Overall - very fun place to stay !

I chose this accommodation for my partner's birthday, and it definitely did not disappoint! The key collection process was easy and conveniently handled from Mac's Pub in the main street of Portland. Just note that check-in is strictly from 2pm. It was a lovely 10km drive to the property - there is a scenic route or a quicker route to choose from. Directions were clear to the property and entry into the house was seamless as long as you read the instructions. I chose the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage and this historic building has stood the test of time and been restored beautifully and is magnificent. Whilst it had all the modern amenities that you could need, it was wonderfully restored retaining all the charm and beauty of its era. Separate lounge, kitchen and sunroom. It had 2 bedrooms (but 1 was locked as we only booked it with 1 bedroom) and 2 bathrooms - one bathroom had a toilet, basin and shower and the other bathroom had an easy access shower, toilet, basin and bath and was quite a big comfortable room. Sunroom faced out to a courtyard which had a spa. Laundry with washing machine and dryer, fully fitted kitchen with stove top, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher and all the crockery and kitchen utensils you would need, a massive dining table and plenty of pillows and blankets. The bed was a king and so comfy. Plenty of power points. Breakfast was provided - bacon, local eggs, butter and all sorts of jams and spreads. There was also cereal, tea, coffee - milk was also provided but the longlife small packs so if you enjoy real milk bring your own. There were alot of lovely "extra" touches too - plenty of books to read, games, wood for the fire, tv's It is windy due to being near the beach. Lots of walk to do in the vicinity - no beach as such but cliff tops, wonderful views and wildlife. I haven’t stopped raving about our stay here! They only thing I could suggest is that the cottage and the adjoining back accommodation be separated by a fence of sorts. I went walkabout and realised there was other people staying in the rear premises but there was no delineation between the 2 properties. The advertisement said there was a pool but I could not find one.
