We loved nearly everything about our stay at the Benson. The room, the lobby, the food at the Palm Court (dinner and breakfast), the service were all wonderful. But for the valet/ingress and egress of luggage, people etc., this would have been a flawless visit. But, since we arrived and departed a party of three road-trippers plus bags, blankets, a cooler, etc., it was awkward. Upon arrival, we waited at the curb for someone to come tell us where to go. He asked if we wanted to valet, but didn’t really give me an option when I asked if there was someplace I could park instead ( I don’t think he understood what I was asking). Anyway, once we determined we’d valet the car, the valet sort of stood there waiting for us to get our stuff out - no easy feat. When we departed, we used a trolley to bring our stuff out, and then had to make a weird trek through the lobby because the trolley exit locks once you take the trolley out and the valet disappeared as soon as he handed me the keys and took his tip. It was the only flaw in an otherwise perfect trip.
