This was our first stay here for a total of eight nights in garden view king rooms. Having walked by the resort on many prior trips and reading the reviews etc we had high expectations. On our first night we dined at Sandpiper and had our worst dinner of our three weeks. The lobster was inedible and the staff there was indifferent. We dined once at Coral Reef and had a good experience along with good breakfasts and a few lunches. Shelly made the best crepes! The smoking tables are right beside the nice dining tables which is bothersome to us nonsmokers. Overall service at the beach, dining and with housekeeping is very good. Most of our calls to the front desk were never followed up on. As an American sports fan I was delighted that a TV could be brought to our room for the NFL playoffs. Matthew in particular made sure it had the right channels. Sadly though despite a few reminders on the 2nd part of our stay noone knew how to do this. Sigh. We learned most guests rebook every year and stay in the same rooms. There is much to like here but compared to some of our other resort stays it left us with a mixed opinion.

We had a delightful and lovely stay at the Coral Reef Club, from the time that we arrived until the time that we left. the caliber of service was amazing! Everyone is so friendly and attentive. We were so surprised when we checked in. Our flight was later in the day, and it was about 11:15pm when we arrived. We were greeted with, "We thought you might be hungry and left refreshments in your room." We were and were so appreciative of the delicious sandwiches! When we left, one of the breakfast servers said, "I know this is your favorite table and reserved it for you!" How extraordinary thoughtful! Our stay included breakfast, which was wonderful every morning. In addition to the buffet with eggs, sausage, bacon, croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc., it includes a made-to-order station of fresh omelets, waffles, and French toast. The morning standard coffee is French-press Lavazza! Unlike other resorts that we have stayed at, there was plenty of seating and we could choose where we sat. Because the resort is located on the west coast, the sunsets from the lounge were stunning and it was a great place to relax at the end of the day. The resort does not have many ocean view rooms; however, the entire property is a stunning tropical garden. Our room had a huge balcony with a beautiful view of the grounds. The room was comfortable. The hotel has an excellent location. After touring the island, we found that Holetown is one of the best places to stay with excellent restaurants and shopping. The hotel is located two properties away along the coast from Folkstone Marine Park which has one of the best reefs on the island. Guests at the resort are very friendly and delightful. Given that Barbados is part of the British Commonwealth, most of the guests are British. Many have stayed at the resort previously multiple times and even together year-after-year. But of course, why would one consider staying elsewhere when you can stay here? We would love to stay here again on a return trip to Barbados.

I went to this hotel in and around the end of Oct 2021 as a single woman. For all single women who are considering this destination be very careful, especially with respect to your company at the hotel and the alcoholic beverages that are served to you.

The location is superb although the Coral reef is long gone. The hotel was 80% full of older guests who book year after year. All the best sunbeds are booked somehow as are the restaurant tables. Staff are amazing and even say never book this time of year. The returning guests always book the same rooms . We had a terribly dark, old and tired room, despite asking to be moved. It’s a shame because the hotel needs to move on from these old guests as that is not the future the philosophy of ‘it’s not broke don’t fix it’ can only last for so long.

We stayed here for a week and we requested a sea facing room and got one which we were delighted with.A family run hotel with great spacious rooms and grounds.Small touches like having your breakfast in your room, keeping your room on for longer if it’s not booked and the family coming to say Goodbye on our departure made it extra special. We have stayed in a lot of hotels in St James and this is definately our favourite. We get why all the guests have been returning for years and we will too.

We stayed here for 10nights to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It’s a stunning hotel in beautifully maintained grounds and gardens We stayed in the Vinca room which had amazing views over the beach and stunning sunsets from the huge balcony Breakfast was very good served in the restaurant overlooking the beach, buffet style but lots of choice and egg station, which also produced pancakes and waffles. Staff were attentive and friendly. We only ate dinner one night it was lovely and service very good but a bit more formal than we like on holiday. It seemed a bit unusual for men needing to wear trousers in such a warm climate We also ate a couple of times at their sister hotel The Sandpiper which was less formal and very good. Housekeeping was excellent, room was kept to a very high standard and our housekeeper was very friendly There has been some erosion directly in front of hotel but there’s still easy access a few steps further along We were surprised to find that sunbeds seemed to be reserved from early in the morning around the main pool and closest to the beach with no sign of people actually using them. There were beds available on the grass which suited us fine but maybe something that should be looked at.

Very nice and excellent customer service! Great food and an excellent breakfast! The beach was washed away by the hurricane, but the manager did offer a 20% off the regular rate to help. Whoever you stay in Barbados be sure to call before you book to see if they still have a beach! It’s too far to travel to sit out by the pool.
