The White House Port Douglas

We really enjoyed our stay at The White House Port Douglas. Starting with warm hospitality, the apartment was clean, spacious, with a lovely balcony overlooking the gardens and pool. The location was perfect, just a short walk to the beach, marina, and plenty of cafes and restaurants, yet still quiet and relaxing. It’s a charming place with a welcoming feel, and we’d happily stay here again.

Their website states that: ‘They have a lovely outlook onto trees and towards the ocean but they're in a really quiet spot so at night all you usually hear are the curlews’ We booked our 2025 holiday when we were in Port Douglas in 2024 and were assured we would have a quiet relaxing holiday at The White House. On arrival, to our surprise and disappointment, the ‘quiet park’ opposite had become a very noisy, dusty construction site operating from 7am until 5pm seven days a week. The loud incessant noise continued for our entire 21 day holiday, making it unbearable to use our balcony or leave our doors open. We received several emails during the year from The White House but no mention was ever made of this planned construction work. The quiet park opposite will now become a water splash park, so expect continual noise everyday from children, skateboarders etc. The White House is situated on a very busy, noisy intersection with cars heading for the beach (and now the splash park) and also towards Macrossan Street with trucks also heading to nearby construction sites. Unfortunately The White House is no longer a quiet, relaxing place to stay, there are quieter and better value places in Port Douglas.

Friends were joining us in Port Douglas for a big celebration so we wanted an apartment with two similar-sized bedrooms. The White House was ideal in this respect and had two lounge areas and a large kitchen/dining room to share. We found it very comfortable and ideally located. The one shortcoming was the lack of a ceiling fan in the upstairs bedroom, though it was fitted with an air conditioner. We were really impressed by the spaciousness of the apartment and its lovely views onto a park adjacent to Four Mile Beach. Highly recommended.

Perfect place for a stay in Port Douglas. Quiet location that is very close to the beach and the main street. My family had two apartments next to each other which was super handy. Both were modern, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The pool is great and surrounded by beautiful gardens that can also be enjoyed from the balconies.

We stayed at the White House for 4 weeks over July/August. We have stayed at a number of accommodations in Port Douglas over the last few years and this is our favourite and the one we will return to. I like the smaller size being only 10 apartments. The position is perfect being close to the beach, main Street and restaurants. It is quiet, opposite a park and surrounded by trees - the bird sounds were beautiful! The apartments are private, very well appointed with everything you need and everything works. Little things like good lighting made a difference. The pool and barbecue area are lovely and user friendly. Tony keeps the surrounding garden immaculately. Tony & Helen are excellent hosts, friendly and helpful but not instructive. We look forward to our stay next year.
