If you have a soft spot for historic properties, stay here instead of the chains. Very close to lake, restaurants and ferry. Standard room was small and lacked view (and enough towels) but clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Yes, there were mayflies outside, it's mayfly season. There did not seem to be breakfast.

What a beautiful and unique hotel with some cool history! Dis not see any ghosts but heard some noises here and there. Its centrally located by the water and access to Put in Bay where we went. It was a very peaceful escape and very relaxing time We had here. We had a room with a nice jacuzzi. Will definitely venture back here when the cold Weather breaks. The staff were also friendly ans accomodating.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. T I had booked a suite, and got a standard room. It did have a jacuzzi, but it was unusable, as there was no hot water. There was a hole in the floor with carpet laid over it. The bed was set on a metal frame which I banged my shin on. The hotel only supplied one set of towels. There did not appear to be heat, so don't go in winter. There was a window air conditioner, and had an ugly view of an alley. I booked through ***********, and received no response to my complaint.

Tho this hotel is historic and folks do well to provide clean rooms,the hotel has few amenities..and staff do not provide much if any work to make the hotel inviting from the outside as beer/pop cans and piles of mayflies greet the customer on the entrance..ugh

We spent the evening at The Island House Hotel, we needed a getaway. The charm of this historic hotel was a special relief from the ver-blown chain motels. The great staff and location are beyond excellent. We had a suite so we had plenty of room to hang out after checking out the local dining and shopping steps away from the hotel. The bed was very comfortable too. We will be back soon.
