We were catching an early morning ferry the next day. The location was not far from the jetty, and was ideal. Having read the reviews on the booking website, I was quite looking forward to my short sojourn. Doubts set in as soon as we entered the hotel, it was dark and a bit dingy. We then had to climb an extremely steep and rickety staircase with a dangerous carpet (bits sticking out here and there) to reach our room. I was worried of falling every time I had to negotiate the stairs. The room itself was very, very small and basic with minimal furniture, utilitarian lighting and an equally basic bathroom. In order to reach my side of the bed I had to climb in at the foot of the bed and then crawl *****. They don't have a restaurant, and were also unable to provide breakfast before we caught the ferry, although they brought us some early morning tea. Luckily, the hotel next door has a good restaurant, whose owner also provided us with a complimentary packed breakfast. What needs to be praised is the kindness of the Harbour View's owner. He was struggling a bit with the paperwork for our registration, and called us numerous times to help him, but that's not his fault, Indian bureaucracy being what it is. When our transport to the harbour didn't turn up in the morning, he tried very hard to get us a taxi, and eventually drove us to the ferry himself! We will always be grateful for this act of kindness and generosity!
