Island Hotel Port Aransas

Will never go back. We were coming from 200 miles away and our car broke down. Had booked a 2 night stay Mon and Tue and I expected to forfeit those payments and I called them and yeah, nothing could be done. we had a relative come and get us and we went on to port A on Wed and decided to stay the night and rent 2 rooms. Called the Island H and asked if we stayed there would they comp us one of the rooms if we paid for the other for the relative. (we had already paid them for 2 nights we didn't use!). They said they would not... I explained that we had stayed there a half dozen times in the past but I would never come back. They told me good luck. Over the 3 days I had called them to update them and each time they told me the manager would call me... I never received one call. That's how they treat guests. Sad

When I checked in this evening, I asked for a bottom floor room, the check in person told me the room she assigned to me, it was her ONLY room, room 102. I opened the door to it and the bed was unmade from the previous guest. I went back to the office and told her, and her response was….. “Well, it’s the ONLY one we got!” And shrugged her shoulders as if to imply that I would have to just accept that one as is . I asked her is she wouldn’t mind cleaning my room for me and I would be back in a half hour and she said she would. When I got back, another guest was unable to check in, because they had lost her reservation so she was very angry. When she got to me, she handed me the key to room 110 instead. Suddenly there WAS another room available , this room, room 110! Even though less than an hour prior, I was told there was not another room available.

This motel was a fantastic place to stay! The room was very clean, and fully stocked. The staff were very attentive to any needs that arose, and they have optional room service, which I prefer to the random knocking every day. The ice machine was not working well, and when we brought this to the attention of the staff, they assumed someone filled their cooler, but in truth it wasn't functioning properly. The breakfast could have used more protein, but still had a good selection, and good coffee available 24/7! I will definitely be returning to this motel next year!

This was a bad experience. I expected this NOT to be a nice place visually and had low expectations. However, they were unprepared for guests and made no attempt to make it right. Do not pay more than 100 dollars for these rooms. We tried to check in and there were no available rooms despite our reservation. Despite checkout being at 11am and check in at 4 pm they were unable to clean the rooms for their guests. We were given a room after pressing that we paid to be here. Then the room had zero towels. I went back to the front desk to request towels and was informed that there weren't any and there was no timeline for when they would be done. So no shower after a beach day before our nice dinner. The front desk woman basically said too bad and to try back later. When we finally did get towels its because I went to the employee lounge and knocked on the door and asked someone else to help me. the shower had no place to put soap or shampoo, no ledge so you have to put the soap down on the dirty floor or walk out of the bathroom with it in hand. The stall had no ledge so the water just can pour out into the bathroom. At check out, I asked for a receipt to which she informed me I couldn't have because I booked it through my credit card company. If you are going to take my card and make me sign for incidentals then you should be able to print me out a receipt for my stay. I never received an email with the receipt. We slept next to the loud parking lot, a barking dog, on scratchy sheets and basically, the only good part was that we didn't sleep in the car.

Decent priced hotel. It was less expensive then some of the other nearby hotels. Very close to the beach and good restaurants. Good breakfast options. The ice machine was broken when we went but I'm sure they have it fixed by now.
