Kariega Game Reserve River Lodge

This is a real great place to be ! If you want a great experience in a very nice accommodation then this is the place to go !! Stunning nature. Our ranger Karan is an amazing knowledgeable person and a great personality ! We learned a lot from him about nature ! We loved it !

We had a 5 night stay here last week and it was exceptional. The lodge room was amazing and very clean, sights of giraffes from the room too. The game drives were fantastic and we were lucky to see everything we came to see. Ozzie our guide was one in a million, looked after our every need. We did a loan game drive and he searched high and low for the lions who hadn't been sighted for days. Only to locate them as we headed out of the reserve. Food at the river Lodge is outstanding too. We didn't expect 3 course meals every night. Breakfast to was simply beautiful. Recommend to anyone. Big love to ozzie. Ade and Laura

The game ranger was eagle-eyed, really excellent. The food, especially the menu items from the kitchen were interesting and well prepared. The fires in the lodge were jept burning in the cold weather and the staff was friendly. Minor issues were dealt with professionally. Location was unique and beautiful.

The accommodation, food and service were all first rate. Our guide for the week, Osman (Ozzie) could not have been friendlier, more professional or knowledgeable. Thank you to all who looked after us - Erkansi!

We had a family break to go on Safari for Christmas 2024. The accommodation at the River Lodge was super. The suites were very comfortable, catering was (too) plentiful and the team were very welcoming and made for a relaxing base each day. Our guide, Forrest, was truly excellent. He provided insights on the animals and their behaviours whether big game or smaller animals, birds and insects. The walk through the bush was a real highlight and gave an opportunity to see more detail as to how the ecosystem fits together from tiny plants to large game. A truly, truly magnificent experience.

Firstly, Hanna and her her team were excellent and stayed 4 nights .. 8 game drives .. Accomodation and food and choice of drinks excellent. Service Excellent .. no issues … Game Drives .. excellent. .. saw all Animals except one which eluded us .. even though we could see trackings .. Highlight .. Midnight drive from one lodge to other .. very exhilarating but petrifying too .. but our Ranger Osi, Had it in control .. Night Sky and Animals at night .. just breathtaking.. Between the Game drives .. Went on boat cruise to the beach and swim in Indian ocean .. and Osi kindly taught me to fish .. ! Something I wanted to learn !! (Didn’t catch anything but was perfect was to spend the afternoon) Had a Spa treatment .. again very good .. Last night we had a SA “Bri” .. BBQ … and had visitors .. giraffes came to see what was going on .. just lovely .. Pool warm .. and mixture of sun facing loungers to shades .. I think in the end it was the team .. led by Hannah … who had Guests in forefront .. relaxation and comfort .. that makes the River Lodge .. little things that made it for me .. small touches .. like any resort there will be improvements they can make .. but to me I enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it .. they looked after me for sure ..
