We took our motorcycle over to Port Alberni for a day trip from Parksville. Before we could return, the only road in was closed due to a wildfire. As a result we were stranded in Port Alberni indefinitely. Fortunately we were lucky to get a room at the Best Western Plus Barclay. The hotel was clean, quiet, and obviously very well run. The entire staff went over and above expectations to ease a difficult situation for us. The front desk staff in particular was exceptional, even arranging a ride back to Parksville for us and helping us put our motorcycle in storage until we can retrieve it. With your stay, a 20% discount is available for breakfast in the restaurant. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Our room was clean and quiet, very comfortable and included a small fridge and microwave. The TV had a very wide choice of channels - more than any other hotel we have been to - so we had lots of programs available to watch. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone passing through the area.

I visited this motel in the winter. The oustside looked a little tired but it was a gloomy day. The reception area is nice and cozy with a sitting area in front of a warming fireplace. The reception staff was friendly and courteous. They let me check in early with no hassle. They also printed something for me, no hassle, no charge. The room was up to date and clean. I was somewhat impressed. The property has an indoor pool which I didn't use, but heard kids going down the hall to enjoy it. Quite enjoyed my stay.

Wow, wow, wow. This was a delight of a find. Stunning location, super friendly staff and decent sized rooms. Located about halfway between Nanaimo and Ucelet/Tofino, its a wonderful small hotel with just a handful of rooms -perfect sized for a family of 4 and quiet. The lake is stunningly gorgeous and we made full use of the hotel's (free) kayaks and paddleboards. There is a hidden waterfall about 30 mins walk where you have to use ropes to get down (our kids, 9 and 14, LOVED it). We also saw the beaver (named Justin by the staff 😀). Basic complimentary pastries and tea/coffee for breakfast. Dinner was plentiful, delicious and not the standard fare - try the fry bread - and reasonably priced for the amount. Boats regularly parked up so must be a good place for locals too. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, which was the cherry on top of a wonderful 3 night stay. Ps The grocery store and taco truck are the last food stops for about 80km so remember to stock up if heading to Tolfino.

Actually we couldn't get to Ucluelet because of wildfire road closures and needed somewhere to stay for 2 nights. Accom in the area was tight because of the wildfire but they offered us a suite in their sister property half a kilometer up the road and we couldn't have been happier. The gated development has a communal seating area outside with sunbeds, seats, barbecues and a firepit. The views are supurb with sea views from the lounge area and bedroom in our suite(no 5) inside it is very well equipped with everything you are likely to need. Staff are friendly and attentive, all in all a great stay with nice memories. Thank you QBOS, the only reason I don't give a 5 is that a safe would have been hood, most people travel with passports, cash, cards, even jewellery but to be fair not many places have had a safe on this trip
