The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings with a good size car park , a little out the way than where we would normally stay but a nice if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the town. We had a family room which consisted of a double bed and single , our room was spacious , had a large bathroom with bath/shower , I would say the hotel itself is a little dated but our room was clean & comfortable with a beautiful view from our window. We had the cooked breakfast which was ok with the usual tea/coffee, toast , we were just told by the young man that was running the hotel that he would bring out the breakfast when we didn’t even choose from a menu which we thought was strange. When we wanted to pay for our breakfast we used the bell at the bar and waited about 10 minutes then we called the landline to try and get in contact with the young man as it seemed he was the only person running the hotel at that time. In a nutshell it’s clean and comfortable it just needs some TLC and someone on the reception/bar more as it seemed rather deserted at times.

Went here today for a family Sunday Lunch. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Food was great, with a large variety of vegetables at the Carvery and the beef was cooked perfectly. A little out of town, but certainly worth the journey. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed at the Baltic on Friday night. Arrived around 6 o clock and both our rooms had just been floor mopped and were still wet smelling of cleaning fluid and there was no heating on. A very unwelcoming start. The Inn had very few residents staying so had ample time to prepare rooms earlier in the day. Our room had a grotty old settee parked at the end of the bed with a shabby cover thrown over it. The fridge had not even been wiped out and was dirty. Duvets on the beds not adequate enough for that time of year. Around 4.30 a.m. we were woken by the fire alarm going off so had to trail down to the Fire exit. Not a single person on the premises to take charge other than the few guests staying - we had to ring a number provided and were told there would be someone there in 5 minutes - this was more like 15 minutes or so before the owner turned up. An apology given - it was a false alarm. Not a good situation on a very cold February night - what if there had been a fire? Cooked Breakfast was served 15 minutes after time specifically asked for and was cold. This could be a lovely place to stay but accommodation standards very low. Advice would be to steer clear.

Lovely clean room, with great facilities, had a heater, tv lots of tea. Beautiful decor. Mattress was a bit springy, but nothing a mattress topper wouldn't fix, and still had a great night's sleep. Had an evening meal which was delicious and big portions and same with breakfast. Looked really christmassy and cosy in the lounge. Was fantastic value for money and will come again.

Spent two nights in the honeymoon suite with my partner. Exactly what we needed. So quiet, wonderful bed, mini fridge was handy to keep milk and snacks. The service was brilliant, felt like we had the whole place/pub to ourselves. Alex the barman/chef was absolutely fantastic. Food was well cooked classic pub grub. It is out of the way but adds to the peace and quiet that both myself and my partner were looking for. Will be making a trip back soon.

Had the misfortune to stay here for one night recently. Young lad that greeted us was very polite and helpful however from there on in it went downhill. We were given the bridal suite! this room had direct access from the car park and was ground floor. What's wrong with that you may think? nothing if it had a blind on the bathroom window! Anyone in the car park could see straight in to the bathroom! The room was cold and dirty it had obviously been not used in a while and had not been cleaned since the last person left the room. Dust was thick on all surfaces, Floor was dirty and sticky, bedding damp and cold and worse of all the towels had been placed on the toilet seat for us. I did not want to stay so went online and tried to find other guest houses or hotels in the area but all were fully booked. We ended up getting up really early having to go without a shower as did not want to flash what my mother gave me to anyone in the car park and drove home. We will not be returning!

Where to start! First off, the staff (Dan) when we first arrived were great- friendly and helpful and the bar area was fine. We were in the main building which is far more tired than the newer rooms near the function room. The family room (a double and a single bed) we were in was pretty crowded. Luckily the weather was rainy but warm, though the heating came on in the middle of the night so wasn't cold. The sofa was old and under the covering blanket falling apart. Not very comfy but better than the beds! The mattress for the single bed was awful, the springs through the cover were painful. We borrowed another duvet for my child to sleep on but still grim. The double bed wasn't much better tbh. Duvets were paper thin, thank goodness for the heating, pillows were no better. The ensuite was tiny but functional - just don't look at the mould in the shower. It wasn't all bad - plenty of hot water, tv reception good and tea and coffee facilities. The following morning the electrics downstairs in the dining area had short circuited due to a leak from the upstairs shower so the poor lady who cooked and served breakfast had to work very hard. Luckily we weren't in a rush but even when the owner eventually turned up, he didn't even come over and apologise for the delay. Overall, as it was the only place to stay it did the job but I wouldn't rush to stay there again. It needs a good refurb, fresh soft furnishings, new mattresses and sofa but looking at previous reviews saying the same thing, they are the only accommodation in the area so know they can change a lot in a niche market.
