Susafa

Susafa is a very special place. A working farm with an expansive property that has been in a family for generations. The main property has been converted into a super-luxury boutique hotel with beautiful rooms and common areas. The place is serene and it immediately plunges you into vacation / relaxation mode. The food is excellent as is the warm service. The only suggestions would be adding a small formal spa and gym which are probably in the works and no doubt tastefully. And maybe a little more variation on the menu- the food is outstanding but maybe a few more choices here and there. Susafa is one of a kind!!

I loved Susafa! Wonderful setting. It's a bit remote, but that made it more special. The food is delicious (and fresh!) and the bar and public spaces are lovely. The room could be a bit damp at times and the wifi was spotty, but for a vacation Susafa is wonderful. Also, check out the pool, which we loved hanging out at.

Susafa was perfect in every way! At the end of our stay, we tried really hard to think of something that we would change, and we couldn’t think of anything! It’s that great! We stayed there for three nights and the weather was perfect. The meals are simple, fresh, and amazing. We spent the day relaxing at the pool, taking walks around the property, meeting and talking to all the wonderful staff and the owner himself. They even have a book in each room explaining the beginnings of Sufafa which is an amazing story.

Most magical place in Sicily!

I traveled to Sicily with my 2 adult daughters. Our first stop was Susafa, in the middle of Sicily. We landed in Palermo, rented a car and drove through the beautiful countryside. The Masseria is beautifully restored with an old, deep history. They were control burning the wheat fields and that added an extra smell and vision to our trip . Unfortunately they could not accommodate 3 of us in one room so we my daughters were in a smaller room near the pool and I stayed in a beautiful suite above the bar and old winery. The room had a beautiful view, living room, large soaking bathtub and a very comfortable bed. Meals were served in the old grainery, which is a beautiful brick building with large arches and a huge fireplace. The dinner service was great. All of our waitstaff were very nice and helpful. The food was excellent, as fresh as you can imagine . We also ate lunch and breakfast there which was equally delicious. We didn’t leave the property and enjoyed walks around the wheat fields, laying by the pool and relaxing . We did take a cooking class which was fun and educational. It did not include eating what we made ?? I think it would be nice to include that too . We saw one of the owners, we didn’t get a chance to meet him. But we did meet his very friendly dog. When I returned home to the US, I did order some of their pasta, olive oil and tomato sauce. My daughter had left her retainer in her room and they kindly included it in the package . I don’t think I’ve ever left an item that was actually found and returned . Another example of their excellent service . And to get to have these beautiful products delivered to my house was a great treat ! We hope to return ! It was magical .

We stayed in August and were really excited following a recommendation from a friend. Unfortunately as there was a large group staying at the same time, the experience wasn’t as special as we had hoped, with our bookings being moved to prioritise the other guests, sound checks being done at the pool while we were there during the day as the group had a band in the evening by the pool, and not being able to use some of the facilities as they were private for the group. We understand these things happen and large groups good but other guests should not be de prioritised in such an obvious way. The worst thing is that since emailing some feedback at the end of September direct to the hotel we still haven’t heard back from staff members. It just doesn’t really sit right. The service really wasn’t great throughout our stay and given the price point would have expected much better.
