Our stay at Spicers Vineyard Estate in the Hunter Valley was truly exceptional! The property is set amidst beautiful vineyards, offering a serene and picturesque atmosphere perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms were spacious and elegantly appointed, with every detail considered for comfort and luxury.
We dined at éRemo Restaurant, the sister restaurant of Spicers Guesthouse, and it was a culinary delight. Every course was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor—the Binnie Beef Hunter Valley Wagyu was a standout! The accompanying Thomas wine was superb and perfectly paired with the meal.
We also enjoyed a morning walk along the valley’s scenic trail and were greeted with the sight of hot air balloons floating over the hills—a mesmerizing experience. The entire stay was seamless, the staff were attentive, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the Hunter Valley in style!

I unfortunately couldnt amend my previous 1 star review from our original stay in October 2020 - I should’ve done this earlier and apologise for the lateness! The team at spicers contacted me after the review I originally left and instead of the basic and generic response, they attempted to make amends for my original stay and offered me a chance to visit again and see the changes they made. I did return again in April of 2021 and the difference was day and night. For anyone visiting this space and staying in the vineyard estate house - I have nothing but praise for the team who took care of the home and us. All of the issues I mentioned in my original review were responded to and managed in such an effortless way. The rooms were stunningly clean, the grounds were so well kept and honestly it was just everything we had imagined the first stay had been. I truly want to thank the team (whether they are still on board or have moved on to other ventures) for all they did. I am grateful for the care they showed myself and my guests and simply for the fact that they took the feedback onboard and made the changes that resulted in one of the best stays I’ve ever had. No complaints here - only gratitude. The team on-site and in management made all the difference. Thank you all again

We arrived at 10pm. It was raining and cold. The property reception was locked with a sign with a phone number to call for emergencies. I figured not being able to check in was worthy of a call. A polite member of staff informed me that they were in the Guesthouse and would be over in 15 minutes. That wasn’t what I’d expect from a 5 star hotel but not to worry. We got into our room. It is quite aged, in need of a renovation. But again, not to worry. However, the experience got significantly worse when I went downstairs to ask where to go for breakfast. The staff member rudely explained that the breakfast that I paid an extra $120 for was already in the room the night before. It was two pieces of bread, some jam and two packets of cereal. I don’t eat bread/gluten. The restaurant was apparently closed for renovations and allegedly they tried (on several occasions I was rudely told) to contact ******* to inform me but because I’m somehow a lesser guest for booking through *******, they didn’t pass me the message so too bad for me / don’t use a booking agent. I asked for a refund for today’s breakfast but agin was snapped at saying “no”. It’s not so much about the restaurant being closed, not being informed when I booked, the aged room etc, it’s the service (or lack of) that can let any place down.

The service is poor, with staff training desperately needed. The hotel ran out of some popular wine, with no plausible explanation as to why. The breakfast menu had sausages on several dishes. They were out of sausages for several days. The hotel did not supply newspapers, even when requested. We had wine glasses (given as a gift) removed from our room by house services with No explanation as to why. It was an effort to retrieve them. The Hotel markets themselves 5 Star accomodation. It’s a long way off 5 Star. We will not be returning there.
