Great rooms, really nice place to stay

The hotel was in a beautiful historical building. Rooms were clean but spartan. There’s a lot more that could be done to make it a much more interesting space but it’s decidedly very average . Receptionists and cleaning crew were very friendly , efficient and welcoming . Breakfast, which was included in the rate , was average at best. Biggest disappointment was the person who was hosting breakfast on June 24. She had a scowl , practically ordered me to a small table in the corner when there were many available . I eventually asked for a table in a brighter spot . I had trouble getting hot water for tea - she practically gripped my arm and pushed me out of the way. I mentioned this as I was checking out and Apparantly her behavior is well known. .she was the only person in charge of the breakfast area and apart from hosting , had to clear dishes etc ., the hotel seems to be skimping on cost. Brightest spot was the restaurant next door - les archives - amazing food , gid value and very friendly staff who were so welcoming of a solo female traveler . I’ll never go back o the mercure Poitiers

There is no airflow in the room.. trying to save energy. After showering, it gets very humid, and mold forms all over the window sill. No one seems to bother. The rooms are very basic decor wise. Like a motel. And then there no doors but curtains for the closet.

Nice hotel but no soundproofing and poor breakfast Really nice, unique building with lots of unusual features. Customer service was excellent, particularly on reception and in the restaurant (Les Archives). The only disappointments in the room were the shower (handheld and had a tendency to rotate to face the wall) and the lack of sound-proofing. The people above (or maybe the cleaner) sounded like a herd of rhino trampling around. I wouldn't recommend breakfast. €20 is excessive considering the quality. Even at 9am, long before breakfast service ended, there was only ever enough scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages to serve four people - so once those four people had helped themselves, it was another 10-15 minutes for them to be replenished. This was despite there being upwards of 30 people dining. The crêpes were cold and kept under a cloche.

As a solo traveller, I found this hotel very convenient. It was very close to the historic sites in the old city and to many restaurants and cafes. I also loved the charm of the hotel. The old chapel in which it is situated had been restored and converted with a great deal of thought and care creating a very unique hotel. I also found the staff very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Met all our needs. Comfortable room, adequate storage. good choice for breakfast. Quiet and near enough to the town centre to walk there. Little issues- shower had to be hand-held to prevent flooding the bathroom and there was nowhere to put shampoo or to hang a towel. Overall, though, I would happily recommend.
