This is a comfortable historic guest house with good facilities including a couple of nice lounges, a well equipped kitchen, and a nice pool and spa for the warmer months. You could tell that the hosts were trying very hard doing the little things just to make it nicer. For example, when I arrived it had been a long day with very minimal to eat so I was really happy to see a complimentary rocky road waiting for me. There was even a stand in the hallway with stuff like tea, coffee, bickies, towels etc just in case you were running short. In the evenings the hosts had always switched on the fake fireplace gas heater to make sure the lounge was nice and warm. Location wise it is about 400m to the lighthouse to watch the ships come in the heads. The bust stop coming from Geelong is about 20m from the front door, while the shops and the bus stop for the other direction are about 400m away, and it's a short bus trip to Queenscliff and the ferry. One thing though, bring some food with you. The couple of take away places were closed early in the week, while the local IGA is horrendously expensive. I hopped on the bus and did the short trip to Ocean Grove that had normal priced Aldi and Woolworths. The guest house has refrigerators and all the kitchen gear if you need it.

Our 3 bedroom cabin villa was very clean and had ample space. The play facilities were great for our 4 and 2yr old, and it was a bonus they had some small balance bikes. Our kids loved the indoor play ground and the jumping pillow the most. The beach is close by to walk to, however the tide is often too high at this spot so driving just 2 mins down the road was a nicer spot. Staff were very kind and helpful. The disappointing aspects of the trip were that the indoor pool heater was not operating and we booked this park in particular in April due to having an indoor heated pool, it rained every day so not having this option did affect our stay with the kids disappointingly. We had a noisy family near us, who ran up and down their hallway most of the night - sound proofing isn’t great but it is a holiday so I guess you expect there to be fun and noise, just not ideal after bedtime with 2 toddlers. The rain hindered activities for us in April - the jumping pillow doesn’t operate when wet (for safety - of course is fine) but the pool was also out of action at only 19 degrees. Otherwise, we were very happy and the kids still had a lovely time.

Due to an accommodation issue in Ballarat we decided to change our destination to Queenscliff. Hunting online for somewhere to stay at the last minute we found Ruby’s. What a lovely place. Ralph was very welcoming. We stayed in a two room cottage to the side of the owner’s home. The accommodation has two spacious rooms, lounge/kitchenette area and separate bedroom with ensuite. The kitchenette has a microwave, toaster and kettle along with crockery and cutlery. Lovely fresh decor with sofas and heating in both rooms. The WiFi is fast and water hot. There is a shared outdoor space with a BBQ and in ground pool. Ruby’s is situated in a quiet area and literally a couple of minutes walk from the main street of Queenscliff. Close to shops, cafes, galleries and a short walk to the water, it’s in the perfect position. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We’d definitely stay again and would recommend as good value accommodation with style.

Saturday night Australia Day long weekend booking was simply bad with no excuses. Food and wine received very ordinary and over-priced - tho two out of five dishes had to be cancelled as not received over an hour after ordering. Followed up twice and eventually advised there was a trainee in the kitchen!? One of our party ending up not dining at all as their vegan dish was one that never arrived. Young and keen (but inexperienced) staff were genuinely doing their best but needed a leader to manage the service over a busy Australia Day weekend. Owners clearly more focussed on their advertised new gifts and candle business. Thankfully other local options have been great. (Not surprised to find business closed now until Wednesday).

This golf motel is 4.6 mi (7.3 km) from Adventure Park Geelong and 5.8 mi (9.3 km) from 13th Beach Golf Links.Enjoy recreational amenities such as an outdoor pool and an outdoor tennis court. Unfortunately, Riverside Motel did not live up to the expectations - which were definitely set by the hefty price tag. I booked pretty short notice and therefore did not have that much of a choice - but thought that at this price point, we should have secured a nice enough place to stay. Well... The motel is located right next to one of the busy roads leading into Ocean Grove. While proximity to a road can be expected for a motel, this should be accounted for in the rates. Staying in one of the priciest of the accomodation choices placed us literally right next to the road (with trucks making the bedroom window shatter from the early morning hours....). The location is otherwise also one of the poorer options in Ocean Grove - nowhere near any of nature`s treasures you can find in this area, or the main street. Checking in was easy and being late was not an issue at all which was nice. However, reception was otherwise frequently unattended. Parking was available next to the cabins, but required quite some manoeuvring to get into, due to the small size of the slots. The cabin - set out for four people - was clean and orderly, the kitchen appliances were working fine (though without a dishwasher or microwave). Cutlery and utensils were scarce, given the amount of people it was rented out for. Towels were provided, linen was clean and beds comfy. Washer and Dryer were in the cabin and worked well. Wifi - advertised on top of the website - was not available in the cabins at all, but provided for the cheaper rooms, in the area around the pool. After some negotiations, we got the Wifi password (and had to go to the pool area to access it) - but it ended up virtually not working most of the time. The pool is nice enough, but only accessible with a key which we received on our second day only. Overall - too high a price tag for what this accomodation has to offer. If you are prepared to pay this amount of money, book one of the nicer options that are definitely out there on the Bellarine to get better value.

WOW! Carmel’s is simply Devine! This accomodation is stunning and is a beautiful place to rest and relax. There was plenty of room for our party of 6. Keyless entry, underground parking and access to the apartments is simple and easy. We loved the fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook, it has a coffee machine, large selection of teas and having a washing machine and dryer was fantastic. 3 bedroom apartment had spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds with plenty of pillows and blankets. 2 smart TVs and a gorgeous kitchen bathrooms and spacious lounge and dining area. The remote blinds were a nice touch and so easy to use. The balcony was huge with a BBQ and dining table. Service from Staff was exceptional they went above and beyond to provide mobility disability items for my Mum to make her stay more comfortable which was greatly appreciated. Location was perfect in the Main Street you could walk to shops and restaurants which was great. A grazing platter was a very nice gesture and was delicious. I would highly recommend staying at Carmels a perfect getaway couples, families or a group of friends.
