We stayed at Aventura Mexicana for about two weeks from late November to early December, 2022. The hotel is set back a bit from the busy 5th avenue scene and is secluded enough so that the noise is quite negligible. It is a very pleasant boutique-like hotel, modern enough, but it still has a real homey Mexican feel to it. You enter through a smallish lobby and if your room is set back a bit, (ours was) you wind your way around a small pool, through a small hallway and past another small pool and presto, you (we) are at your (our) room. It feels like a bit of a labyrinth, but it is pleasant because of the pools and the beautiful gardens you are walking through. And actually, it isn't that complicated, but rather somewhat of an exotic walk. There are several floors at our end, incorporating a lovely big terrace on the second floor, where you can sit and catch some sunshine. Our room was on the first floor and faced the pool and beautiful gardens, and was across from a bar/eating area. This was where we had our complementary breakfast, nothing great, but you could supplement it if you wanted more variety. The bar in this area was operated by an outside party, they usually kept the noise down, but sometimes not. You could live with it or join in, your choice. We did enjoy, though, the servers and watching the Fifa World Cup played on their TV. The room was quite comfortable and clean. We only used the room service a few times, so clean was up to us. Things, mostly went well. The staff were friendly and helpful, and, yes, we did rather enjoy our time here! The hotel has specials on, it seems like always, so be sure to check what is going before you commit to a booking. Playa del Carmen is becoming a very overpriced touristy town. Is it still worth it? Hmmm, probably not. Fifth Avenue is what it is, the difference now being, the armed police patrolling up and down it. We used to enjoy the beaches, and since we were there 8 years ago, they have all but disappeared. Literally, there has been a great deal of erosion, there used to be long and wide stretches. You could walk for miles, mostly unimpeded by exposed rocks. You used to have a nice beach between the hotels, restaurants and bars and the ocean. Now the sand is gone and the water is lapping up to their edges. The beach has been washed away, so sad! However, before I make it sound entirely hopeless, there are still some nice stretches of beaches. There is just not the seemingly endless stretches that I can remember! What is the solution? I don't know if we will return to Playa, but this is because of the overuse of the area. It not because of our experience with Aventura Mexicana, who I do "hope" are still around in the years to come! This hotel is a good representation of what you would like in a typical, boutique hotel in Mexico. P.S.The beach is about a 10 minute walk, maybe, from the hotel.

Awesome stay all around! Very helpful staff. Amazing service. An oasis for sure (in a popular destination). Even though it is a block off the busy pedestrian street, it doesn't feel like it. 10 minute walk to the beach.

My first time in Playa. This hotel was in a good location and they had very comfy beds. I felt very safe in this hotel. It is small enough to always see a familiar face at the front desk or in the restaurant. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. They always did their best to help us with anything we asked about from restaurant reviews to taxi costs to calling ahead to get reservations for excursions. if I travel to Playa again I would stay here again

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Playa del Carmen. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful landscaping, and very clean. Every evening had live music in the courtyard. First time there but will definitely be back.

This small hotel barely one block off the incredibly busy Quinta Avenida still remains a neighborhood gem...... One person stands out in particular, who was great is Eduardo at the front desk.… The pool is a real sanctuary. My only complaint is the bar- restaurant plays old hippie music way too loud. I would prefer more Mexicana typica musica!

We stayed here for 5 nights with our Son and he loves the pool. It’s very convenient because our room is just by it. The Tiki restaurant offers good food and the location is perfect and not loud even though it's located near 5th avenue. It’s our first time in Mexico as a family and I think we made a good choice staying here for our first few days. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The rooms are not fancy but super clean. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Simple breakfast included of fresh fruit, good coffee and toast. Very close to the center of 5th Ave which is the main drag for shopping and resto’s. Still very quiet considering the central location. Staff were lovely and helpful, and always present throughout the day and night. They have an affiliation with Martina Beach club and that was a fun day out. Highly recommend.
