Enjoyed our holiday overall, hence 3* but numerous things that could make this hotel a truly great experience. Location - we knew the hotel was slightly remote, 11mins walk for us to the marina. Not a problem, but not ideal for everyone. Taxis however were reasonable ~€4. Lovely walk along the seafront. Very windy at times, ladies be prepared to tie your hair up! Rooms - pool view, top floor. Great! Room was clean, and cleaned frequently with towels replaced as and when we wanted. Keycard kept losing info as next to phone in bag. Solved this by placing in a blocker wallet to save numerous trips back and forth to reception! Staff - very mixed, some really helpful and smiley, others appeared unhappy which is such a shame for them as reflects on overall ambience of the hotel. Entertainment - would say average in comparison to other hitels we've been to. We enjoyed the morning archery, the canarian tapas and wine afternoon and the evening magician. Greater variety would be appreciated in the day. Pool - we only used the main pool, always got a lounger no problem at any time. Get the pegs that keep your towels in situ! Such a shame the spa jets or waterfeature in the pool weren't operational, apart from one that another holidaymaker would get working by banging, not really what you expect. Food - breakfast options were brilliant. Evenings were hit and miss. Temperature of food was warm. There is a microwave to the left of the cooking station. Always an option for me, but my son sometimes struggled. He made up for it with the desserts! Would be nice to know if there was a themed night in advance. AI vs HB - We were HB. From what we saw we wouldn't have wanted to be AI. Having seen the snacks left out in the pool bar, the small cardboard cups, asking for room numbers etc, lost the AI luxury element. AI appeared to be being 'managed', understand if you have guests on BB, HB and AI it is hard to control, but the coloured bands should have made this obvious. As we were HB this might be unfair, just what we witnessed and others we talked to said. We were able to swap dinner for lunch which we did to enable us to eat out at night on a few occasions. Option to pay on a daily basis to upgrade to AI which we planned to do, but didn't seem worthwhile on arrival. Would we return - no, but no big complaints, otherwise I'd have spoken to management whilst we were there.
