The hotel has its own part of the beach and has very relaxing vibe. It’s outside the town centre but is only a quick taxi ride. The food was adequate and I would say was quite good seeing the hotel is only a 3 star. The rooms were large and spacious and very clean. All in all a great hotel for a relaxing holiday.

We stayed in August 2024 and the room we were given was nothing like the pictures online. Generally the hotel is tired and is in desperate need of refurbishment. As you enter the hotel it looks old and dark. The Furniture is so well used that the foam in the chairs are dinted and the door at the back of the reception has wood missing. As you walk around the hotel the paths are worn in a faded red colour with tarmac missing. We were located outside facing the gardens and had a patio key to enter our room. The room itself had plaster missing from the walls and pieces continued to crumble onto the floor during our stay. The net across the window had holes in and the bed pillows were like sleeping on a rock. The bath had a large black dint where the enamel had been chipped. Moving onto the pool there was black marks up the sides which looked like mold, the courts had glass on them and large gaps where the wire walls had been damaged and not replaced. The flood lights around the courts which never came on had the electric panel on the floor with all the electrics exposed. The position of the hotels is also way outside the main area of playa blanca near the top end towards the light house. Additionally the restaurant had a big problem with black flies that flew around the food which was left uncovered, landed on it and then people were eating it. There seemed to be no form of blue light which is generally used to get rid of flies near food. The pool bar was average and again bits of food was left out uncovered and flies landed on it. The area is also very windy as you are very exposed. However further down towards flamingo beach it is less so. Generally this hotel was very cheap. I thought I was getting a deal, however you get what you pay for. So if you're looking for a base to explored this beautiful island it may be okay for you. However if you are looking to stay around the hotel and use all of its facilities I would recommend that you pay more as you do get what you pay for. This hotel is tired and in need of serious refurbishment, hygiene in the food areas and ground maintainace that replace and fix damaged areas rather than just sweeping paths. I would return to the area but not this hotel.

Just returned from a week with our three children 16, 15 and 11. We enjoyed the pool and beach although it was rocky and a little difficult to navigate, really nice little coves with beds on the walk down. Never struggled to find beds by the pool but early afternoon there were lots of people on chairs and towels on the floor. The food was ok, you wouldn't starve but as with most all inclusive it was repetitive. I was surprised not to see a chicken nugget all week instead there was chicken fish and lots of pork, the chops were really good and the kids enjoyed the snack bar pancakes and ice cream. The room was ok and not as run down as other reviews would suggest but the air con was useless. We were really disappointed after checking out at 11 there were no facilities and we're unable to keep the room so ended up showering by the pool for our late flight

After reading the reviews we went with an open mind, determined to make the most of our holiday. But honestly, from the moment we arrived we wanted to leave. And we were not alone in this, several families said the same. The biggest complaint was the amount of flies in the dining hall on and on the food was disgustingly unhygienic. There were honestly hundreds. Dinner time was worse. Presumably because there is no air-con in the dining area and it’s hotter inside than it is out. I wouldn’t have minded a dated hotel in need of a refurb, but it was grubby and dirty with a sewage smell around the pool. There was absolutely no atmosphere around the place, none of the facilities were getting used because they were so unkept. The games tables looked like they hadn’t been updated since 1970. We never used the pool area at all during our stay because it looked dirty, moldy and unappealing. We did however make the most of our holiday and did enjoy it the best we could. Arriving to breakfast, lunch and dinner as it opened meant getting fresh food with limited contact with flies (and the food was really good considering how bad everything else is). The quality of the food and drinks were good and the beach coves are lovely and the sea is really nice to swim in. The rooms were also relatively pleasant and maintenance quick to fix any problems we had. There are some lovely day trips nearby (or with free transport) that can make a holiday memorable. Aqualava water park down the road has half price entry after 3pm, Papaygo beach boat trips can pick you up outside the hotel and rancho Texas park has a free bus from outside the neighbouring hotel. Flamingo beach is a 30 minute walk along the coast and has some lovely bars and reastarunts and it costs €7 in a taxi to playa Blanca which is lovely for an evening out for a change or scenery and food. The evening entertainment at the hotel is like nothing I have ever seen. Nothing happens until 9pm and when it does, no one is particularly paying attention. There is no atmosphere in the evening, just families sat around playing card games and wafting away flies.

Just returned from a week at SBH Royal Monica with friends and their children. Let’s be honest it’s a 3 star all inclusive and we got a great price so really we can’t fault much. Food was plentiful, and lots of choice so no one went hungry. There are lots of different groups from all over Europe visiting the hotel so yes the restaurant tries to cater for everyone not just British! There is even a gluten free section at the end of the dining hall and you help your self to drinks both soft cold, hot and alcoholic - better than having to wait to be served! Yes we saw flies but that’s not something you can avoid anywhere in the world! Pool bar for late breakfast, snacks afternoon coffee and cake was great. Pool beds were hot and miss some days there was lots free other days it was busy, no one’s fault but one thing that did annoy us was people leaving towels on and then not returning all day which wasn’t fair on everyone else, we never got a bed for the 5 year old as we didn’t think it was fair told others were wanting one to lay on while she practically turned into a mermaid on the pool all day. Beach coves were lovely and best way to avoid the wind - again something you can’t blame the hotel for! Snorkelling was great saw loads of fish and you can hire masks for €5 an hour at a hut on beach front. Staff were all friendly and maids did a great job (no maid service on weds or sun but let’s be honest they all deserve a day off and we don’t all have daily maids when we’re at home!) Drinks measures were quick to change from ok to strong but we avoided this by pouring our own soft drink then asking for the vodka top up rather than letter the bar staff free pour or we’d have all been drunk after 2 drinks - that’s not a complaint just the truth! Onsite shop sold mostly what you needed if you did need extra snacks, souvenirs or cream but like most other hotels it’s more expensive than wandering down the road the the shop. Only downside was evening entertainment really, or lack of it. One night was a man whirling a towel round his head on stage, banging a drum and cracking a whip (we were confused!) and another night was a music quiz where most teams cheated and used their phones, some nights the mini disco didn’t seem to happen and if you weren’t at the pool bar by 8 you didn’t stand much chance of getting a table. Overall great holiday, no complaints apart from the need for more than factor 50 due to high temperatures and wind!

1 thing vefore we start this hotel is on the the outskirts of Playa Blanca notnin the centre so not ideal if you want to get around town if your not mobile. If you are its a beautiful walk. The views are outstanding! Hotel is literally on the beach front. Sea view rooms are incredible! The hotel is super clean in all areas. The food for a 3* all in id say 6/10 and same for the drinks. You get what you pay for. Huge spacious clean rooms with air con and fans! Decent size bathroom and big tv if needed. The entertainment team is mainly French focused but there are 2 teams that work in sync, Ozzy from the animation team is amazing, super friendly, speaks 5 languages! He always had time to make you feel welcomed and never kept on like some do, always polite and respectful. Hotelnwould have a different vibe without him! 5* for that guy! Overall for the money I believe we had a bargain! Worth going for the views alone. Private beach is rocky with small areas of sand but beautiful. Always beds available around the pool everyday when I stayed last week. Bar staff at pool bar were great. Had a nice chilled week with friends!

The SBH Monica Beach Resort hotel, despite being 3*, really deserves more, the location is really good, the beginning of the promenade gives a lot of sightseeing opportunities. The rooms were quite tidy, clean and cleaned every other day, the view from the balcony of Isla de Lobos, Fuerta and Tenerife. The food was the best I've ever eaten in hotels, maybe it's because there's no English food like in other hotels, which leaves room for others and that's why we'll go back there next year. Beach is small but clean.
