Mansions on Fifth

Shadyside Pittsburgh|1.02km from Carnegie Museum of Art
I was pleasantly surprised by this small hotel. I liked that it was in a mansion and within walking distance to Phipps Conservatory and the Carnegie museums (both about a 15 minute walk from the hotel). The lobby area is beautifully furnished. Check-in was fast with friendly staff to help with any questions. There is a full bar on site which serves drinks and a few small munchies but no restaurant or room service was available. The bartender was kind enough to give me some help with the local food options. She even went so far as to draw me a small map so I could easily locate the restaurants. (Thanks so much for the extra effort. It was greatly appreciated!) The walk to nearby Shadyside was only about 10 minutes. There were restaurants and bars available plus some shops. The area is safe so I didn't feel uncomfortable walking in late evening. The rooms were clean and modern with standard amenities. I did like that housekeeping service was optional. At check-in, you were asked to chose the type of housekeeping service you would like during your stay. I was only staying in the hotel for two nights so opted out of housekeeping service. My only real complaint was the lack of parking for the hotel. There is off street parking which is good since the hotel sits on a busy street, but the amount of parking is very limited. I only saw eight actual parking spaces. Three of these spaces were not available due to on-site construction. The overflow parking is basically anywhere along the perimeter of the property next to the fence. This is not enough parking for the amount of rooms available. I didn't appreciate having to park in a location where my car could easily by damaged. With the exception of the parking, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would stay again when visiting Pittsburgh.

Residence Inn by Marriott Pittsburgh Oakland/University Place

Oakland Pittsburgh|1.27km from Carnegie Museum of Art
This is a pretty decent hotel. It is much better than the Hilton Garden Inn we previously stayed in down the street. We initially reserved a studio with 2 queen beds, but got upgraded to a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite. My kids were beyond excited because they got their own room, TV and bathroom. My husband appreciated the private bath and corner view with plenty of windows. It was VERY spacious. Our room was listed as having a king bed, but it seemed more like a queen. The pillows and mattresses were not very comfortable, which was disappointing. The bathrooms were clean. The bedrooms were fine, but a bit dusty. The kitchen/living areas were not as clean. The sofa was pilled up and had blonde hairs on it. The kitchen cabinets, stove, table, chairs and fridge had smudges and fingerprints on them, which I found a bit gross. Although there was a full kitchen, there weren't any cleaning supplies aside from a meager roll of cheap paper towels. No dish detergent. No disinfectant spray. Luckily, we didn't really need to use the kitchen. At one point, we used 2 forks and a bowl, so I called the front desk for some detergent and they brought me dishwasher pods which we didn't use. I bought Clorox wipes at the CVS down the street to clean up and left the bowl and forks rinsed off in the sink for housekeeping to wash. Despite these shortcomings, we will most likely stay here again. We'll just be better prepared. Also, be aware that the parking is first come, first serve. We parked and walked to our destinations, which was very easy since the hotel is right on Forbes Ave.

Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center

The transportation is convenient. It is more than 600 meters away from the University of Pittsburgh. The hotel is old, but the sound insulation is good. It is very close to the Dinosaur Natural History Museum. The front desk will be very enthusiastic to answer any questions you have. If you park in the parking lot opposite the hotel, you have to pay 29💲 at the hotel. The front desk gave 3 parking coupons to swipe the card and scan the QR code on the coupon.

Health is OK, compared with domestic friends, after all, it is similar to the hotel, the room has a great moist taste, the breakfast is very nice, the front desk service is good, the clothes are returned, and they are quickly taken down.

These reviews had me all worried about the parking situation. There's a garage right next to the lot, it cost us I think $15 for like 12 hours. Yes, the desk clerk wasn't super friendly but the place was clean. It's convenient, if we're downtown we'll stay here again.

Send your child to the University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown, and choose this hotel. After more than half a month of experience, I feel very good, and at the same time, I also feel the friendliness and kindness of the American people to the Chinese people. Johnstown is not so convenient to get around by car. The hotel service staff kindly arranged for their colleagues' cars and said there was no charge. How can this be OK? I will still express my heart and arrange the vehicle. I am very grateful to my guests in this foreign country. Next time I come, I will still choose to stay in the hotel again.
SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh Bakery Square

I am shocked that this place is a Springhill Suites in a nice area of Pittsburgh. The layout of the room was not good, the sliding barn doors on the bathrooms (one shower, one toilet) could barely be opened. There was a trundle bed instead of a sleeper sofa, and there were not pillows and blankets for the extra bed. The TV was mounted where no one in the room could comfortably watch it. The fridge was tiny with almost no counter space, and a lot of the hallway reeked of ****. The front desk person was completely uninformed and could not answer any questions about the hotel parking, (she thought it might be included, thought it might be come and go just show them your ”card”, but couldn't answer anything). The very worst part though was the ”breakfast”. It was not staffed at all as far as we could tell, and there was crushed popcorn everywhere, ground into the carpet both at night when we checked in and still there at breakfast. They don't seem to have anyone cleaning even the food area, and trash cans were overflowing. At breakfast there was almost no seating, and what was there was very impractical, totally at the wrong height for eating, and not set up for more than one person. There were very few people eating there during our stay (it was not at all busy). Despite this there were very few things to eat, nothing was refilled or cleaned, we found the muffins were one of the few edible things there, but even though we ate breakfast at different times, there were only one or two muffins and when they were gone, that was it, nothing was refilled. Juice was limited to apple or extremely watered down orange flavored water, no eggs or protein of any kind, one orange, no other fruit, no yogurt, only sugar cereal, only bagels (no other bread selection). This was our last stay of a 2 week road trip, and by far the worse breakfasts that we had anywhere we stayed. Wish we had stayed elsewhere.
