Doryssa Seaside Resort

An amazing hotel with a beautiful beach.

My wife and I have now been here three times and we still look forward to returning to Doryssa Seaside Resort. And it's time to write a few words about what keeps us coming back time and time again. As soon as we arrive, we are greeted professionally and friendly by Spyros Liakakis' front desk staff. They really do their utmost to accommodate our wishes and needs. We have stayed both in the hotel and in the village, and have become particularly fond of the village. There is something unique about this part of the resort, especially for us who come from further north in Europe. The houses in bricks and stone are small, but large enough to get the feel of intimacy and coziness. They are quite close to each other without compromising privacy. Some of the good things about the Doryssa Seaside Resort is the proximity of both the sandy beach and lush lawn behind it, the pool and good restaurants at the resort. Our favorites was Koyros and Pnoe with its beautiful seafront location. The fact that it is only a 15-minute walk to charming Pythagorion, is also nice. When everything from rooms and apartments to the facility in general is kept clean and tidy, it's only top score from us. We will keep coming back.

Here now and just seen these reviews having had a nightmare! Had the Operations Mgr George refute every complaint and take particular exception about the breakfast which is appalling as confirmed by Tiffany! I have another 10 days here and the breakfast is a high point based on all the other issues we have had and continue! This is not 5 star and the reception and management staff reflect that. Redeeming features are the service staff at Pnoe, the main bar, Asteria, Unan and even in the breakfast area where it is not their fault that the food and facilities are limited and sub standard for paying guests. Worst holiday I have ever been on and it’s come to the point where both TUI have agreed that because of the reception and Management staff rudeness I will deal with the rep and UK complaints only! This is the height of season and more detail will follow at the end of my holiday as I have agreed with my husband that I have to accept that this booking was a mistake and we will pursue with all detail on our return to the UK. No recompense or apology from the hotel to date re our experience…just an offer of another room at an extra €50 per night! Be warned!!

This was so so bad, the hotel is in dire need of some love, I’ve stayed in $2 hostels in Thailand that were nicer, the staff when not walking around clearly high were so absent and unhelpful I may as well have worked myself. The restaurant staff were so bad in general I was amazed that so many staff at a single hotel could be that bad, it’s like The restaurant staff were hired with incompetence and “thrive is a pig sty” as part of their essential skills

Our family of 4, including 2 teenagers, stayed at the resort, booking via TUI. It was the first time we had done a package style holiday and we thought the resort was excellent. The facilities are of a high standard, cleaned and well maintained and the staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The pool is busy with younger children so we stuck to the beach, which is fabulous. There are plenty of chairs and you can order food and drink direct to your loungers for no extra cost. There’s a range of restaurants on-site. The main beachside one is probably the best- I wouldn’t bother with the Japanese one unless that’s really your thing. We stayed in the main building where the rooms were simple but had everything we needed. The resort is fairly quiet in the evenings- apart from Thursdays, which is Greek night. A taxi to the town is readily available via reception- a 4 mins journey that costs 5 Euros. In town there are some good restaurants like Cena. Avoid Yamas at all costs!

Sadly our stay at Doryssa Bay, a supposed “5 star resort” in Samos last week- was a disaster. Firstly, some side points to raise include mould in the bathroom, broken patio door and intermittent AC of which I have attached photos - I was fobbed off with an explanation that the mould was black paint! Not enough sunbeds for the number of guests and towel policy were a joke as were the overpriced restaurants on site, the metal bunk beds uncomfortable and request for duvets on the bunks were denied for the children. They instead had thin, scratchy blankets. But of most concern was that on our first night (of a five night stay) we left our room at 7pm to have dinner outside the resort - when passing reception, I requested fresh towels in the room. On our return to the room at around midnight, we found the door had been left wide open/lights left on (presumably by house keeping when dropping off the towels). I am a solo female travelling with my three minor children and this was extremely traumatic. The children were terrified that we had been broken into and that someone had tampered with their belongings or were indeed still in the room. After checking the room and our belongings were ok, I managed to calm them down to stay in the room. Because of the late hour and in order not to disturb the children any further, I informed reception of the disturbing incident first thing the next morning. The response from Doryssa was non existent. I had to chase them via emails and go back to reception several times before they even acknowledged the situation. Till today, I have not received an explanation of what occurred. They eventually offered my family dining vouchers for the dinner buffet which we declined as we no longer felt comfortable or safe on the premises. It took until after we checked out of the hotel for the manager to get in touch and admit the security breach was completely unacceptable. Our entire holiday was ruined as I had to spend most of it chasing an appropriate response to the breach which was initially described as an “inconvenience”. The hotel completely failed in their basic duty of care to us as guests and were negligent with our security. I will not be returning and certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone who values their safety and security on holiday or anyone with children. Furthermore, I am disgusted by the way my family was treated afterwards, pretty much ignored until we chased for a response over and over again. 0-star security and 0-star service from Doryssa Bay.
