The experience at the Hotel was great. I am not happy with Trip because it was more expensive than Booking where I always travel, is that why? On the other hand, I have a bank debit card in USD, when I wanted to pay they told me that Trip had already transferred it to my card in $U (Uruguayan pesos), which I only provided to reserve. If someone from Trip Advisor does not come forward about this issue, unfortunately I will never stay with you in the future and I will give you bad publicity.

The Hotel deserves more care and conservation, the rooms are not comfortable and the mattresses and beds are not in line with the stars that the Hotel says it has. The location and breakfast excellent. The pools are very good and the surroundings are beautiful. The Hotel is incomparable but it is poorly maintained

Excellent service, very good breakfast, spectacular outdoor pools and other heated indoor and hot spring pools. We suggest expanding the dimensions of a 2-seater bed for physically larger people and renewing the mattress. The food and service are unsurpassed. Regarding the external pools, there should be a children's one, since we want to return with my partner's little ones. It is very familiar and you feel like you are at home. Thank you for making us feel this way!

The hotel is a magical place, it is beautiful and it is old. This means that some things are a little more deteriorated, I feel that there is a lack of care in the details of the structure, for the price you pay per night.

This hotel used to be a big deal 100 years ago, it's still a decent hotel, but far from modern and visibly falling apart on the outside. You can see that a lot of effort went into constructing the hotel 100 years ago, but the rooms lack basic things like accessible plugs for charging (we pulled out the TV and connected a charger there). The TV was a small antiquated CRT model that probably wouldn't satisfy anybody nowadays, but we didn't need the TV anyway. It's a hard choice between giving it 3 or 4 stars, but the personnel were nice, so it's tipping to the 4 stars.

The hotel has seen better days. It is apparently under restoration at present -- the public areas and the view are wonderful. But the rooms need a lot of work. Stained carpets, peeling paint, and quirky plumbing are the norm. (I spoke to several other members of our group). My room's telephone was ripped from the wall; I mentioned this to the front desk but they didn't fix. One of the windows wouldn't open. I also mentioned this to the front desk, and they also didn't fix it. Fortunately a storm blew it open so I had good ventilation (no air conditioning). Electrical outlets are few and inconvenient. Wifi is free but very unreliable. Enjoy the view.

We live part time in Montevideo and have visited Piriapolis several times but have never stayed here. We have often driven past Argentino Hotel and thought it would be great fun to stay in what appeared to be a gem of a property. So, we chose a beautiful weekend, made a reservation drove to Piriapolis. The hotel reserves the perfect location on the Rambla and beach, a short walk from downtown. The facade is spectacular and is an architectural gem from the past. They have great parking and an absolutely stunning lobby. Check-in was fast and courteous and we made our way onto the gated elevators. to our room. We were surprised when we exited the elevator at the size of the hallways. They are 15 feet wide with large windows at the ends open to the sea breeze and rather dark due to the burnt-out ceiling fixtures. We could not help but notice that the chipping paint on the walls, doors and trim was in serious need of repair. We entered our room, which was a nice size, to see the same state of repair, and ugly carpet that you would install in a storage room. The room did have a wonderful view of the sea which was welcomed. The bathroom was also in need of some updating but we did not these minor issues detract from the overall splendor of the hotel. We decided to have dinner in the dining room and it was excellent. There was also live music and dancing. The pools in the rear are very nice along with the huge grassy area with tables and chair for lounging and an efficient outdoor bar/restaurant. The breakfast buffet was nice but nothing to cheer about. We understood that the hotel is owned by the government and managed by a private group. It's obvious that the government does not want to allocate any capital to repair this once beautiful hotel. We hope that it can be revitalized similar to the Sofitel Hotel in Carrasco. This could be a 4-5 Star hotel if it was given the attention that it deserves.

Hotel is very historic and probably one of the better options in Piriapolis but it is just not up to modern standards of what of 3-4 star hotel should be. Having to type this review down the hallway from my room as there is virtually no wifi reception in room 323 (though a great seafront view) and the wifi is spotty throughout much of the hotel. Apparently no router on the entore 3rd floor? Not acceptible for those who need to stay connected in this day and age. Pools are great, best part of this property. Breakfast OK...but not enough options. Seems they are struggling to keep up to the standards of what is truly needed to be a top hotel in 2022/2023.
