SoulShine

I started off there solo and ended up with a friend and watched a wedding reception take place. When I tell you that SoulShine is the absolute best place to stay in the entire world I don’t say it lightly. Their customer service is unmatched ( they helped me find taxis because I couldn’t get a rental car like I was supposed to ), the owner knows what’s going on so much that I felt more safe solo than I ever have traveling in my life, the food is phenomenal, it’s a VERY affordable price, and they are so beyond kind. I can’t rave about this place enough.

The owner is absolutely fabulous and super friendly. The staff has been incredibly warm and service minded and the facility itself is very very cozy. You feel secluded in your individual room surrounded by hundreds of amazing looking plants, flowers, and trees that really takes you into the middle of the jungle. There is even yoga and a breakfast menu that exceeds all expectations. And I love a good breakfast. The room itself is very spacious and smells amazing every time we came in. The bathroom and shower area is huge and the products that they use in the in the shower are of the highest quality. You feel so fresh after a day on the beach or out exploring. If we come back to this side of Costa Rica again, we will absolutely be staying here again. Only a few minutes walk to the beach and lots of interesting and spectacular restaurants just minutes away. The pricing was absolutely reasonable. Definitely recommended.

We have been staying at SoulShine even before it was SoulShine. The current owners have done so much to make this truly a destination in itself. We look forward to returning each year to see what they have added, whether it is beautifying the grounds, updating the cabinas, or adding a "treehouse", which we stayed in this time. It isn't a typical structure in the trees, but more an elevated 2-unit building nestled in the trees, and it was fantastic. The cabinas are also lovely and comfortable with outdoor showers, refrigerators and comfortable beds. The owners are always so nice and accommodating, greeting us by name and making us feel so welcome. The entire staff is top notch, from showing you around when you arrive to offering to bring luggage to your cabina. And then there's the restaurant... the family is from Isreal, and the menu reflects that. They are open for brunch every day and currently dinner 3 nights/week (hope to expand that). Do not miss breakfast if you stay here - and even if you stay elsewhere. It is to die for! Yes, there are less expensive places to stay at Avellanas - and I'm sure more expensive. But for the price, I cannot see how you can match it in quality. We come at least once a year, and have brought other couples. They all love going to Playa Avellanas, but SoulShine is the real draw ＜3

We loved staying at SoulShine Avellanas. The room was comfortable and the small kitchen was well equipped. The kids had a great time at the pool and the restaurant had delicious food. We loved how the room truly felt like a treehouse, monkeys and all! We hope to be back soon!

This is the perfect laid back Costa Rica place to stay. Walk to beach, Attentive staff, comfortable rooms and beds, AMAZING and I mean AMAZING food. Relaxed vibe- and salt water pool was perfect. Everything you need to unwind and relax with family and/or friends.

Soul Shine is a magical experience. The grounds of local plantings are beautiful and the location in Playa Avellanas is perfect. What makes this location so special is the staff, and the owners who treat you as one of the family. Cannot imagine a more inviting and comfortable place to stay in Playa Avellanas.
