SShuaishuaiguoshinenglizheI saw online that it was a new hotel, but the location was good, so I booked it with the mentality of giving it a try. After arriving at the store, I found that the location is perfect, quiet in the midst of a hustle and bustle, near the intersection of the most lively Chenghuangmiao Street and South Street, and there is an exclusive walkway with a unique artistic conception. The store is fully equipped with good brands, including Midea home appliances, smart toilets, and Delixi switches and sockets. For hot water, there is a convenient and hygienic mineral water instant heater. The bathroom is equipped with free disposable toilet seats, disposable bath towels, and disposable towels, which are thick and of good quality. The toiletries are also of good quality, and there are disposable paper cups for drinking water. The temperature in the room is very good. It has floor heating, so it's not cold even in the middle of winter without turning on the air conditioner. The yard is very quiet, the living experience is very good and safe. The most important thing is that the boss is so nice. He gave us a map, introduced several attractions worth visiting in the ancient city and gave travel suggestions. The recommended restaurants were delicious and affordable, much better than those we found ourselves. When we checked out, the boss gave us two bottles of vinegar. From the rooms to the service, I can really feel the owner's attentiveness and taste. He runs this B&B as if it were his own home. If relatives and friends come to the ancient city in the future, I will definitely recommend this place first.

The customer service butler added WeChat the day before check-in, carefully asked us about our estimated arrival time and travel methods, and provided a lot of free consultation along the way😂😂 We encountered congestion on the highway and almost missed the scheduled performance in the evening. The lady was waiting on the roadside early in the morning, led us to the parking lot🅿️, and led us to the theater🎭~ It was a smooth ride~~ She also helped us book a popular restaurant for dinner, saving us the time of queuing! So thoughtful!!

Ancient style of ancient city decoration, a different world when entering the courtyard, the room is very spacious and clean ~ The hardware is indeed complete, and small snacks and fruits are thoughtfully prepared ~ The breakfast in the morning is also very exquisite, and there are vegetables, steamed snacks, and cold dishes in the food box for each person ~
Before leaving, we were given New Year souvenirs, including Shanxi old vinegar 😍😍 and Pingyao beef cubes, so thoughtful! !
It’s a pity that the time is limited this time. If I have the opportunity to come again next time, I must stay for a few more days! !

GGuest UserWe stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property.
Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it
And it does feel and look like a traditional house.
You feel you are going back in time.
Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs.
He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city.
Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions.
Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him.
Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm.
On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour.
Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class.
The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved
The hotel is very close to the main streets. About 5 min walk.
The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.

The room was so clean, the bed was so cosy and the shower head good pressure hot water.

Location is inside the city wall nearby the north gate. It was pleasant to walk around.

It is reasonably priced, a bit out of the very center (meaning also out of tourists crowds that can be quite noisy in the evenings and mornings), but still close, has same old-style design as the more popular and well-established places that cater to foreigners, but priced twice as much. Pick-up and drop off service is provided - just contact the hotel in advance via phone using the reception of tour previous hotel - no one speaks English - it will solve your communication issue if you do not speak Chinese. At the place itself everyone is very eager to help - use your phone app to translate. Onwer helped me to buy tickets to Pingyao attractions and Terracota Army as I was heading to Xian next (available only through WeChat Pay that is in turn is not availablefor foreign tourists as of April 2023). If you go to Shuanglin temple, be sure to ask to buy tickets through WeChat for you as well. I was able to buy physical one by pure compassion of local guard who asked the staff to open ticket office just for me (Probably was the only foreigner in Pingyao at a time). Please also note that as of April 2023, the reconstruction works in the historical city parts are continuing, so, large chunks of the city within the walls are not looking as great as it could have been. The very center of the city is mostly untouched though and you can still come and explore. If going in spring, be prepared for the temperature swings. I got a temperature drop from 28C to 3C within 2 days by the moment I got to Pingyao. It was even snowing at night.

RRinMMReally love the hotel’s a**osphere. It is cool both scenery and weather. There aren’t much noice and people around the hotel, a little walk and you will reach some of the tourist’s attraction. Some employees can speak english or if not, wechat is the best help. They also booked taxi and drop us off by the taxi, the service was wonderful. Will stay here again if there’s a chance of visiting.

GGuest UserRed lantern Inn gives the best service among all the hotels I’d stayed so far in China. The owner and his wife picked me up from the Train station 20 min away. The location is superb, inside the old city and located just 5 min walk from the North Gate. The Mansion is so beautiful and well kept for hundreds years old building unless you like everything new or modern.
The best part is Xiao Lei, the sweet and polite inn keeper who’s extremely helpful although we had to use Google translator to communicate. He goes all out of his ways to do anything to make your stay comfortable and your visit enjoyable. He cannot explain how to but the ticket for the Old city, so he walks with me to the office. He also drives an electric truck to deliver my luggages to the north gate and call the taxi for me to the airport.
I’ll definitely come back to stay here if I come visit Pingyaogucheng again. I completely recommend this inn to everyone.

GGuest UserPingyao Garden Inn, which I found on Qunar.com, has a high praise rate. I chose it as my temporary residence during my trip to Pingyao Ancient City. The homestay is located in the center of the ancient city, which is very convenient to various attractions in the ancient city. The inn is clean and tidy, and the environment is elegant and quiet. The owner and his family are very hospitable and took the initiative to introduce us to the surrounding environment, the best routes to visit the ancient city attractions, and the characteristics of the main attractions. Every morning, they prepared a delicious breakfast for us on time, helped us solve various needs, and contacted the vehicle to the high-speed rail station for us when we left. Two days made us feel comfortable and warm just like at home. I would like to thank Mr. Gong and his family at Pingyao Garden Inn. I look forward to visiting Pingyao Ancient City again next time.

The atmosphere is truly authentic—you feel like you've stepped back in time. It's the perfect base for exploring this charming city.
The rooms are clean and reflect the traditional style of the surroundings, adding to the overall charm. But what truly made our stay special was the staff: incredibly friendly and always willing to help. Despite the language barrier, they went out of their way to communicate with us, using translation apps and lots of patience. We felt genuinely welcomed.
All in all, highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in historic Pingyao!

KKeaiderenzailvxingThe room was very clean. It was a great experience to experience Shanxi's Tukang culture. The air conditioner and shower water were very powerful. The location of the inn is excellent. It is in the city center, quiet in the bustle. It is not far from various attractions and famous restaurants in the ancient city. You will not have to worry about safety issues if you come back late at night. The owner of the inn was very nice. He helped us book tickets for the performance of ”Seeing Pingyao Again” before we arrived. When we arrived, he was very enthusiastic to help us with directions and introduce the features of the ancient city. The little brother from the inn also helped us pick up and drop off our luggage. Every night when we return to the inn, no matter how late it is, we can see the boss waiting for us at the door. The boss said that we should wait until all the guests have returned to the inn before sleeping. He is a very responsible and warm-hearted boss, which is great. The small courtyard of the inn is kept clean and hygienic, and you can leisurely drink a cup of Kung Fu tea, which is very relaxing. Next time I come to Pingyao Ancient City, I will choose to stay here again.
