Morokolo Safari Lodge Self-Catering

We spent 4 nights at Morokolo Safari Lodge in January. I would like to highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in a safari vacation. The executive suite was very large and well equipped for a self catering lodge. We were even lucky enough to see a small group of elephants pass by our property one morning about 100 feet from our bedroom window. The AC kept us cool on the hot days. The furnishings were comfortable and modern. The appliances were great for making our own meals. There is no grocery store nearby so you will need to pack everything you might want to eat or drink. There is a water purifier in the suite but we brought our own bottled water. We were the only 2 people at the lodge that week. Niel was our safari guide. He was exceptional at guiding us to see the big 5. His knowledge of the animals and the park was amazing. He taught us a lot about the flora and the fauna we were seeing. He was actually as excited as we were when we got a rare leopard sighting one morning. We were lucky enough to see cheetahs, lions, water buffalo, elephants, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, impala, gazelle, kudu, baboon, wildebeest, crocodile and numerous bird species. We couldn't have been happier. We also got lucky with the weather. I think the self catering is ideal because we didn't have to worry about getting back for dinner at 6pm when a lot of the animals are coming out of hiding. The safari timing was very flexible. Niel even came knocking at our door at 7pm to see a group of lions in the dark! close to our property. Crazy but amazing experience. We were the only ones out because the other lodges were at dinner. We didn't get champagne and caviar but we got the best safari viewing you could imagine. The private reserve is tucked into small mountains making it much different from viewing on a savannah. The scenery is spectacular even if you aren't seeing animals. The private game reserve is attached to the much bigger Pilanesberg National park which you have access to. My wife and I have travelled extensively. Overall 5+ star experience as long as you don't mind cooking your own meals. The nightly rates are reasonable. I was so impressed that I will come back again with my adult daughter next year. We rented a car from Lanseria airport and drove to the lodge. The N4 toll highway was an easy drive just don't drive at night.

Great accommodation, clean, spacious and comfortable with a nice view. Niel our safari guide went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our safari drives. He is very knowledgeable and clearly loves his job. Thank you for an amazing stay.

We stayed in the executive suite and on first sight of this property we were blown away. Stunning in every sense, spacious, private and perfectly decorated and maintained. Not one complaint. Staff matched the quality of the lodge, all round an exceptional stay. Big shout out to Jackie and Riaan for welcoming us and taking us on a brilliant game drive.

It is the second consecutive year that we visited Morokolo Lodge. We enjoyed every moment and saw the Big 5 during our game drives. Riaan, our ranger and host once again provided us with the best imaginable experience ever!

Magical. The property has everything you could ever need for a self catering stay. The accommodation is excellent, clean with comfortable beds, tea & coffee making facilities, bath, outside and inside showers and all very clean. The game drives with Riaan who is knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful were amazing. It was truly the best holiday we have had as a family for a short 4 days. Thank you Riaan and Jacqueline.

My children and I celebrated my wife's 48th birthday at Morokolo Safari. What a beautiful, clean place it is. What pleasant service from staff who also helped with setting up a bush braai experience for us.
