Podere Spedalone

We attended a cooking class at Podere Sepdolone last week. The experience was amazing. Roady was a chef/teacher who did an outstanding job teaching, explaining, and showing each of us. The group was small ( 6 people), making it so nice and intimate. After the class, we were there to eat what we had made. There was a little time between the cooking class and eating, allowing us to walk around and take the most beautiful pictures. The farm is so lovely and then we had lunch outside just looking over all the beauty. The owners were there greeting people and the staff were all so pleasant. I highly recommend this cooking class to anyone who is in the Tuscany area and wants an amazing experience. 10 of out 10 for our entire group!

We absolutely loved our stay here! What a welcoming and communal environment! Do not miss the dinner here with apertivo and the pasta making class! The staff were all so friendly and we made friends with other guests. Great time all around! The rooms were spacious and comfortable too! Also laundry service really helped out with the whole trip! 10/10

One of the highlights in our trip to Tuscany. Amazing place, peaceful, wonderful and outstanding views. Very very nice service and staff. Amazing experience, learned how to make 2 kinds of pasta and tradicional biscuits. We finished eating what we prepared in their lovely terrace with views over Val d’ Orcia. Would highly recommend.

I cried when we had to leave. We stayed in the Stanza Azzurra Deluxe double room. It was so quaint and comfortable. We felt like were were all alone on the property. It is a separate building from the main house. The staff are wonderful and make you feel like you're part of a big family. AND THE FOOD!!!!! OMG, we all gather together outside and have drinks and appetizers while we watch the sun set. Then we all go into the restaurant and eat at large tables (too cold at the time to eat outside). Everything was homemade and delicious. The views are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. We rented a car from Florence and drove. It's about a 2 hour drive. Beautiful scenery along the way. We were able to visit all the small towns around the villa. It's truly a beautiful place to stay.

This was our honeymoon and we decided to stay at a more authentic place and do not regret our choice at all. We found it easy to navigate to, the section of dirt road was not bad at all, and the property is vast and allows for beautiful hikes and exploration. The property had lots of fun trips to take (truffle hunting, e-bikes, horseback riding, etc.). We did the cooking class with Roddy and had a great time. My husband was not thrilled I had signed him up for this, but it turns out we had a fun time and learned a lot. Roddy speaks great English and really makes the class enjoyable (it was just the three of us, and we at the lunch we cooked). We purchased the dinner for Saturday night and there were about 12 people we met and dined with, and it was a traditional dinner--lots of food and lasted for 2-3 hours. Our room was on the bottom floor in the courtyard, so that was great for us. We were near everything, but it was very quiet. The room was a suite so it had a living area, as well as two bathrooms (bring your own shampoo and conditioner). The folks that run the farm are very accommodating and will help you with whatever you need, and everyone seems to speak enough English to be helpful. The wine add-ons with the meals were very good and reasonable. We enjoyed long walks on the property and didn't see anyone else for hours. The landscape is filled with deer that roam the area, chickens in a coup, resident dog and two cats, as well as all sorts of beautiful birds. Their garden is right off of the main lodging area and there are tons of places to enjoy your morning cappuccino or coffee. The breakfasts that is included is HUGE. Lots of different items that included homemade pastries, tarts, breads, yogurt, etc to fresh hams, salamis, and cheeses. Lots of fruits and fresh eggs made to order. The two best parts of staying at the Podere Spedolone are the nice rooms that still feel rustic, as well as the customer service. The sunsets are fantastic as well!

Watch out before you book at this establishment. The reception are not very welcoming in the first place The rooms doesn't have any air conditioning and the heat was above 35 C so we did not sleep at all. The window shutters are damaged and does not shut properly. We never realized that you get a 1 star overnight but now realize to look out for this in future as a 1 star is exactly what it says. We asked for the olive oil tasting at reception and was advised to use olive oil with dinner and taste it there!! Dinner was served at a long table which was cramped so you could almost not move your arms to hold your knife and fork. We were lucky that we only booked one night otherwise we would have left the place in case the following morning.
