We stayed here for one night while on a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors. The room was perfectly adequate with a lovely comfy bed and great facilities and although it was clean, a little attention to detail had been missed i.e. mirrors needed a good dust along with the TV screen etc, and the room was a little tired looking but nothing that spoilt the overall experience staying here. The pub itself is lovely offering locally brewed drinks and the food was amazing. We ideally would have stayed two nights but unfortunately it was fully booked, never mind, maybe next time! You can get some really good deals booking directly through the pubs own website, well worth a look.

Booked the hotel as part of a red letter day. We arrived at the hotel at lunch time and was greeted by friendly staff. We waited for the tour at 14:00. This was very informative and fun. We then returned to the pub and was shown to our room, it was light and airy and lovely. We had a 3 course meal, which was beautiful. In the morning, we had a lovely cooked breakfast. Cereal and toast, coffee, tea and juices are available too. Would I return? Most definitely

Just visited for a meal wasn’t staying the night. Had to wait over an hour for the food to arrive. Sadly they did t tell us there would be a long wait. Food was mediocre & then got over charged on the bill. Their beers were nice & reasonably priced.

The breakfast, and the team who serve it are excellent and that’s the best thing I can say about the place. We were told it was a quirky 400 year old inn and the stairs to the rooms are a challenge for just about anyone over 60. The guy showing us to our room when I said this was too much for my wife, who has a bad knee, said “What two flights?” Yes two steep flights. I asked if there was a room in the lower floor he gave us room number 8. Now this was Quirky. The bathroom has a sloping ceiling which, if you don’t maneuver to the left while leaving the toilet you bang your head on said ceiling. Had there been mice in there, which of course there wasn’t, they would all have been hunchbacks. The dinner service was so slow four people on the table next to us gave up and walked out. Likewise, we travelled the few miles to Pickering to eat after the first nights experience. On the plus side the place is clean with lots of home brewed drinks to sample. You takes your money and you makes your choice of course. The staff, when we departed were friendly but the earlier set had spoiled things from start up.

Brilliant brewery tour, Josh was very informative and witty with it. After tour you got to sample 3 tasters or a bottle if you preferred. Yorkshire stout was lovely. Food reasonably priced, home cooked and very good. Would highly recommend!

With the exception of the meal serving staff, I found a reluctance to be friendly. The meals were mediocre, frozen fish served with fish and chips, bacon in the morning tough. On the plus side, towels and sheets crisp and white and the Cropton Classic bitter was delicious. However, there are better places in the area to stay.

Having a pub with its own brewery as a neighbour (albeit temporarily as we stayed nearby!) was heaven - and far too convenient! I did just about work my way through their selection of beers and we ate both Sunday lunch (booking required!) and evening meals there - both good.

We wanted to stay over to make the most of the brewery tour and tasting. Opted for the tour/meal option and not disappointed. Food was great - beware large portions! Never had a yorkshire pudding wrap before. Room had character, was clean and comfy. Included toiletries and refreshment tray with usual tea/coffee and packets of biscuits.

Traditional pub with the nearby brewery's beer on sale. Also cropton brewery cider. It's quite a small pub, decorated in traditional pub style. it has a sheltered beer garden and a large family room downstairs, which I presume is used in summer. We didn't eat there, but the food service was very popular, so must be good.
