A really lovely restaurant with welcoming staff, set in the heart of Pickering. A good menu offering local produce, relaxed atmosphere and efficient service. Fabulous Sunday evening. Parking available but limited. Would definitely visit again

Really lovely stay at The White Swan this weekend. Beautiful cosy hotel with roaring fires - perfect for a cold weekend with snow! The breakfasts were delicious and the staff friendly. Our bedroom was very clean and comfortable. We were there for a birthday celebration and the lunch was held at the hotel which was suitably festive.

We have just come back from a two night stay. The hotel was just perfect, clean, tidy and very cosy with roaring fires. We stayed in the main part of the hotel. The bedrooms were beautiful and the bed was so comfortable. Great choice of food on the menu and a lovely bar area to relax in after a busy day. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. A visit to the steam railway just down the road is a must. Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay just a short drive through the moors.

Our Christmas home , we have returned for our 6th Christmas at The White Swan ( as we left we booked our return visit for Christmas 2025). Why do we come back every year ? Simon and the team are amazing looking after us and making our visit , relaxing and enjoyable . We always complement the chef's as the food is always outstanding , especially the Christmas dinner. There are lots to do in the surrounding area during your stay , we love to go for a walk on the beach at Sandsend and visit Whitby. Plus it is great to see the Santa Express on Christmas eve, takes me back to my childhood.

We stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast and ate in the restaurant the first night we were there. The staff are incredible, attentive, friendly and seem to take great pride in what they do. We stayed in room 9 it was so clean and comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was extensive and cooked to perfection. The bar area is cosy with the fire and a great range of drinks. Overall comfy, cosy, clean and friendly as well as bang in the centre of Pickering. Will definitely return to this lovely establishment.

Food was fabulous, her staff really kind. This is NOT a wheelchair accessible pub/restaurant. When I pointed out to the owner, I had booked and asked if it was wheelchair accessible, I was assured it was. The ramp was so steep it nearly tipped me backwards. I had to get out of my wheelchair, hobble in and then get back in .There is a more accessible door but none of the staff could find key. When told owner about problems, I never raised my voice, she accused me of shouting, said I should have waited whilst outside whilst a member of staff went and found her upstairs! Even if the door had been opened, because of the huge step to the other part of the building, anyone totally wheelchair bound would not be able to access the toilets. Totally unsuitable for wheelchairs and the owner was rude beyond belief!

Can’t comment on anything other than the service really as disappointingly we were not permitted to dine with you despite our reservation. On the day we had issues parking close enough to the pub as the car park on site was full and so ended up being 10 mins late for our reservation. My husband walked on ahead from where we had managed to park as I wheeled our 7 month old in the pram and he arrived at the restaurant at 1:55pm. On arrival he told the member of staff he saw about our booking at 1:45pm and she said that we wouldn’t be served as the kitchen closes and stops serving food at 2pm. Given it was not actually 2pm yet my husband questioned this and the member of staff very rudely said that we’d missed the opportunity as just sitting down to the table just before 2pm was not sufficient time to get the food order in to the kitchen so they would not do our food. The restaurant itself was still very busy and food was consistently coming out of the kitchen so clearly service had not stopped. Some tables were only just being served their starters so clearly their mains were yet to be cooked. We did say what if we only ordered main courses and the woman we saw was having none of it saying ‘I’ve told you already, you’ve missed the deadline the kitchen is closed’. We would have understood if we were walk-ins but as we had booked surely we would have been the last table and the kitchen could have accommodated us. The answer was still no from the woman we saw who did not respond to this, she just turned her back on us and just walked away. So rude! Consequently we were left with no where to give our 7 month old his lunchtime feed either so we ended up having to go back to the car and feed him in the back seat of the car before heading home as everywhere else we tried in Pickering was fully booked. I had had this reservation since October as I know how booked up places can get in the run up to Christmas so I’m very disappointed and honestly astounded at the attitude of the front of house woman who spoke to us. Clearly she does not feel your business needs custom if she’s turning away people who have booked who are just 10 mins late for their bookings! If we were half an hour late I could understand but 10 mins! And 5 mins before the cut off time of 2pm! Ridiculous! I suggest in the future if 2pm is your cut off time (well, actually 1:55pm) then you adjust your online booking system to make 1:30pm the last time people can book a table to give them the 25 min window for lateness to make last orders.

Great stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Large comfortable room, bigger than expected. Room even had room for a two-seater sofa. Food was excellent and plenty of choice. We had evening meal and breakfast at the Swan. My only negative was it was a bit cold by the windows. But this wouldn’t stop us staying there again if we were in the area.
