The White Swan Inn

We stayed here for 2 nights bed and breakfast on the Travelzoo deal and had a very nice stay, some good points and some not so good:- Good points Room 1, Lovely room with a separate lounge area, shower great, bed very comfortable, the breakfasts were absolutely top notch, plenty of choice, all good quality products, The staff were lovely, nothing too much trouble and very polite and helpful. The Not so good points:- Room 1, very noisy early in the mornings with all the traffic and deliveries as you are right over the alleyway to the car park, noisy on the 2nd night due to being attached to the bar next door. We ate in the restaurant on the 1st night having the fish and chips and the Lamb and both were very nice however when we looked at the very limited menu there was nothing we fancied on the 2nd night so went across the road for a curry which was lovely and one of the nicest we have had. One thing I will say is the drinks are expensive especially the wine, we looked at the wine menu and the lowest priced Sauvignon Blanc was £40 a bottle! (It does say in the information booklet that they don’t do a big mark up on wine but there are surely a lot cheaper more affordable ones available for the average drinkers who don’t want fine wines) A pint of flat Morretti was £6.30, ( the waitress was actually doing her best to get a head on the drink as she poured it) Overall we had a very nice stay and would definitely return in a quieter room hopefully, and we would have liked to have spent more money and time in the hotel but the prices put us off I am afraid.

The hotel is excellent from the very warm welcome and throughout our 3 night stay. Rooms exceptional and great breakfast options. All the staff couldn’t do enough to assist throughout our stay. Great evening meals and relaxing bar area too. Will definitely return in the future

A very warm and welcoming place to stay, with exceptional staff. Room 6 is a very generous space, with a comfy, large bed and pillows, without any noise. A great night's sleep after an enjoyable afternoon in Pickering. Bar prices reasonable. Breakfast provided an wide range of options, of very high quality. Open fires kept blazing in all seating areas.

Ideally situated on the High Street, with our room (11) overlooking the front of the property. Parking onsite if you book in early enough. Excellent quality of food at both breakfast and dinner. Staff are very friendly. Easy journey to Whitby.

A delightful and charming Inn full of character and warm log fires! The staff were welcoming , helpful, attentive but not intrusive. The menu isn’t huge because everything is freshly made. My 10oz rump steak and chips w peppercorn sauce was tender and scrumptious, washed down w a pint of Black Sheep. My wife had a root vegetable allotment pie w delicious black cow cheddar and onion glaze (topping) and red cabbage and thoroughly enjoyed it. Prices for the quality were fair and we felt that we got good value for money. Really enjoyed our dinner. Thoroughly recommend the White Swan.

It was my second stay at this hotel and I will definitely return. The staff are all very friendly and the rooms and food are superb! I have already booked another stay! It is an excellent location to stay to visit Pickering and to explore the north York moors.
