Pukyo Bed and Breakfast Belgian Lao

The breakfast variety and quality were praised, along with the helpful local hosts. Guests appreciated the cleanliness, spaciousness, and comfort of the rooms, though some mentioned the quiet environment.

Pukyo is a 5-room B&B run by David who is a very friendly and helpful host. We got a room on the ground floor which was excellent for my husband who does not walk well let alone climb stairs. It was a big family room with a king-sized double bed and 2 singles. There is an ensuite bathroom with a very good hot-water heater. The bathroom floor gets wet and slippery after the shower but there is an anti-slip mat and Daivd knows about the problem which he is going to fix this summer. The aircon is very powerful and there's also a wall fan as an option. There's also a small TV but we did not use it. The B&B is about 4 min from the airport and less than 10 from town. David will take you to town for dinner in his comfortable van and wait for you. He very kindly bought dinner back for us the 2nd night as my husband was too tired to go out. There's a fridge stocked with beers and drinks and a water dispenser in the living area. We had wonderful chats with David who is a great font of knowledge and felt like we were staying with a friend rather than a commercial lodging. There are mosquitoes in the evening but David sells lemongrass -scented repellent for 11,000LAK - very effective also for outdoor tours. David has a outdoor seating area at the back and it's a very peaceful and pleasant place for breakfast or a beer at sundown. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with David.

We stayed here for one night in February 2024. This is a large / posh bungalow converted to a hotel. There are only about 4 or 5 rooms. David (the owner) was a great host. He was there to receive us when we arrived and showed us around. The bungalow is very well maintained and is squeaky clean (which includes room/bathroom and the common area). The room was very comfortable and the place was quiet at night. The room had all the amenities. On the minus side, there aren't any restaurants close by. But David usually drives the guests to the city centre for dinner and we had a good Indian meal, thanks to his recommendation. Our bathroom was tiny. Other than that, this was a pleasant stay. David also arranges good tours in the local region. If all this isn't enough, David speaks excellent English, French, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish and Italian.
