I and my wife had booked a room at this place last week and arrived in Phnom Penh yesterday, 3d of June. It was really astonishing arriving there and finding a closed gate, with no sign at all of being thar a hotel. I got off the tuk tuk taken at the airport and knocked on the gate, till finally managing to call someone inside. There was in fact a young man who only speaks Cambodian, but the driver helped us in translation. In short, the youngster's message was: the hotel is closed. We showed him the reservation receipt on my mobile, but he was not responsible for this, being there only as a watchman. To remark that even though its cashier is pretty alive and keeps on receiving money from people. During the conversation another person appeared, by fortune, a nice Polish lady who informed being a neighbour of that hotel. She found all the story quite peculiar - the less to say - and promptly used her own mobile to contact Independence Villa through Facebook. Someone then confirmed the temporary closure of the place and simply informed that my reservation had been cancelled and they informed about it by e-mail. This is a complete lie, because never I received any such message from them. DO TAKE CARE with the nice pics and ads they display on their website and Facebook page: the hotel no longer functions, but keeps on accepting bookings and charging for an inexistant service.
