Terrapuri Heritage Village, Penarik

Nice experience for those whi have interest in heritage culture. Well preserved house. The room is clean but the aircond need to service.

My wife and I spent the night in one of the villas and had a magical time. This is a compound of 100 year old plus villas that have been beautifully restored, with beautiful dark wood rooms and furniture and modern bathrooms with soaking tubs and ceiling showers. It is bordered on one side by the jungle and on the other by the ocean. The grounds and infiniti pool are gorgeous. The owner collects antiques and they are spread around the grounds and in the rooms. This is one of those places where you can feel the history. A memorable and worthy stay.

This place is a majestic! I am so in love and admired every detailing of it's architectural, impeccable arrangement of interior & exterior and well preserved antiques...it's a real treasure. I really appreciate on how this place is well kept and to keep all the malay heritage that is to be seen and experince by all of us and definately the younger generation. Terrapuri is absolutely a gem!

The good- 1/ what you see is what you get. Nice kampung houses situated at a remote area next to a pristine beach. Very calm. 2/ no internet connectivity, no wifi and very weak mobile coverage. Good to disconnect. The bad- 1/ Its more like an airbnb rental. No/lack of a proper hospitality service. Everything had to be done DIY. Went around looking for pool towels, getting coffee, etc... 2/ 2-3 locals are only real estate caretakers with minimal hospitality experience. Room was not cleaned daily. Not sure if we had to ask, the lady at the front desk did not mention anything. 3/ No one actually greeted us when we reached the place. Had to wait before the gate was opened by the gardener. The caretaker came out 10 mins after we went about looking for the check in place. 4/ Food quality was so and so. Am ok to book in advance but the first day dinner we ordered was below par so we decided not to eat in. No real value for money. However the place is so remote that the next descent restaurant was 5-6km away. 5/ A lot of mosquitoes at night. Even though there is a mosquito spray provided, it would be better if a mosquito repellent plugged to the power outlet can be provided as well. Mosquito nets around the bed provided some comfort for a good night sleep. 6/ lack of security around the premise. Came back from town at night, opened the gates, parked inside and walked around. No one to be seen or came out to check who we were. No phones in the room to call for service or in case of any emergencies. All in all we came for a weekend escapade. We got what we wanted from the property but it would have been better if the place is really managed by experienced service staff.
