Torwood House

Very friendly and helpful owner who replied quickly to all communications. Good location about 15 minute walk to the town, but quicker to the park, sea-front etc. Clean and tidy, comfy bed, our room (5) was quiet. Lovely breakfast. Thanks!

Excellent in every way. Superb quiet location and lovely property. Handy for everywhere. Short pleasant walk into town and to the coastal path. Bus stops round the corner. We caught the Mousehole bus round the corner for a trip to Mousehole and hopped off at Newlyn and walked back on the coastal path from there. Lovely room and fantastic choices at breakfast. Full English is recommended. Hosts Lynda and Steve are very friendly and helpful with lots of advice on the local area. We recommend the Orangery Cafe which is a two minute stroll away at the Penlee Art Gallery for delicious home made cakes, soup and lunch which we had on the day we arrived from the train (before we experienced the delicious full English at Torwood). We highly recommend the Torwood and would return.

Booked a trip on the night train from Paddington to Penzance and found this hotel online for a night stay before heading back to Lancashire. The original plan was to arrive on the sleeper train and go on a day trip to the Scilly Isles. I was unsure whether there would be anywhere to leave our cases in Penzance to avoid taking them on the ferry with us. I called Linda before booking to ask for advice and she told me that we could leave the bags with her on route to the ferry. Calling her was the best thing I did as not only was she willing to take our bags she also saved us money booking with her direct. As it happened due to a mix up in the planned date of travel on the sleeper train, our stay was delayed 24 hours. Once again I called Linda who thankfully was able to fit us in and moved the booking back a day. Upon arrival Linda greeted us and showed us to our room. The room was lovely, spacious with a lovely en suite which again was larger than in most b&bs I have stayed in. All the usual facilities such as tea/coffee plus a couple of extra perks such as a hairdryer and a fridge in the room. The following morning breakfast was lovely. Again Linda cannot do enough for you. Full selection of cereals, yogurts, fruit etc and a wide choice of cooked breakfasts. I opted for poached eggs on toast and added hogs pudding (cornish delicacy) whilst my husband had scrambled egg on toast and asked for a couple of bacon rashers on the side.

My wife, golden retriever & I stayed at Torwood House fir 3 nights. We had a lovely l, comfortable room, breakfasts were excellent with my wife waxing lyrical about the omelette while I indulged myself having kippers & smoked haddock fish cake. The disappointment on morning 3 that we had to leave far too early to enjoy breakfast was made up for with lively sandwiches etc. We did hit a logistic issue ref getting to the Scillonion ferry on time, Linda & Steve helped sort that. They were the perfect hosts.

Lovely hotel conveniently located in Penzance close to the beach. We stayed with our dog for three nights and were surprised at the size of the bedrooms, were great. There was some mold in the bathroom and room but it is an old house so can expect this. Breakfast was fine for what we needed. There is some great food trucks located at the bottom of the road which we ate at on an evening which were nice. Parking was fine as we moved the car outside the hotel on the night and used Beryl bikes.

If we could give more stars we would. We were greeted by the owner Linda who was lovely and very welcoming. Lovely room and service that couldn't be faulted in anyway. Bed and pillows were so comfy that I actually asked the make of them so I can look at getting the same. Breakfast was scrummy and plenty of choice of croissants, cereal and fruit. We had the full cooked breakfast which filled us right up. The bathroom was immaculate with lovely towels and toiletries supplied. Will definitely be staying again.
