We stayed here for a football tournament local to this hotel, including 8 other families, all of which experienced the same as us during our stay. Extremely rude staff from the minute we all checked in. We had a 7 month old and no help was offered just rudeness considering there was no lift and out of 8 families we stayed with we were the only ones on the first floor. Another family had booked for 4, however, their daughter didn’t end up coming at last minute. On arrival they booked in but said that there was only 3 now and the lady on reception was abrupt stating that they should have rang ahead and told them and they wouldn’t have bothered to make the additional bed up. We all said that our rooms smelt of sweaty teenage boys and were unbelievably hot. We went to the bar after we had all checked in, only to be served drinks in plastic cups. However, when asking for a non alcoholic drink they gave the glass bottle and plastic cup for you to pour yourself. Everything about made it no sense. During the evening we popped over to restaurant/bar which is separate from the hotel for a few drinks, again the staff were no better in there. We were again greeted with rude staff, telling us not to sit in places as they were setting up for breakfast the following day….it was 8.25pm and the restaurant didn’t close until til 9pm. We were only trying to sit by the windows to keep an eye on our children who were playing outside. We were also explicitly told at check in when booking breakfast for this morning not to be late as they couldn’t fit us in if we were late and it was wrote on our hotel information and handed to us. However, when arriving at breakfast this morning a few of us were told we had no bookings! Basically customer service at this premier inn is non existent everywhere you go and we paid £150 privilege! Needless to say we wouldn’t stay here again.

DO NOT STAY in room 1. The entrance sliding door constantly opens & closes on to the bedroom wall causing it to reverberate around the room and shaking the wall mounted TV. We did complain to the receptionist but was told it would only be for a short while whilst the rest of the residents were coming back at night. This carried on until just after midnight and started again at 6:20am We had booked to stay for 2-nights but decided to cut our stay short due to the lack of sleep and the unsympathetic response. We have stayed here over 20 times over the years without any problems. In addition, the TV remote was missing and the table lamp was damaged leading to potential electric shock. People would congregate outside the bedroom window chatting and smoking, which meant that we could not open the window for any fresh air.

Very comfortable stay with pleasant reception staff in hotel. Convenient location. The 'attached' restaurant is in a separate building and run by the Table table group. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful and the morning staff were friendly. The evening staff were not helpful indicating that all the restaurant tables were booked, even though it was only about 1730 pm and hardly anyone was actually dining. We just wanted a table to sit down at with our drinks for an hour. So I wasn't impressed with them at all. The room 131 needed upgrading as the toilet rocks when you lean forward 😂 It was a bit alarming!. The sealant around it was a bit of a bodge job and not enough to secure the toilet. There was also a big crack in the corner of the wall. However we were happy with our stay and would return.

The Premier Inn Merthyr Tydfil Hotel is one of the most gracious hotels I have ever stayed at. Staff members were welcoming, polite, and always willing to help. As others have noted, the rooms are clean too. I highly recommend this hotel whether seeking accommodation for family or business.

An excellent base to visit the local area. Used the hotel as a base to vist Cardiff. The railway station at Pentre Bach is literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Table Table restaurant is next door with excellent menu for breakfast and evening meal

One member of the party is a wheelchair user so had the accessible bathroom. The welcome from the receptionist was very warm and the room was very nice, the bathroom was absolutely spotless as was the room, whoever the cleaners are they are very thorough.

Being from south London and not knowing the area at all, Marnie on the reception desk was really helpful for directions into town and the best places to eat for dinner. There’s is also a lovely restraunt/bar on the hotel so it’s a great place to stay if working away and fancy a quick quiet pint after a long hard days graft

Our go to place when visiting bike park, it’s warm, friendly, clean hotel, that allows bikes. No outdoor storage for the bikes but the carpark looks like it’s covered in cctv if I didn’t want to take it to the room which is good to know. Welcomed by the lovely Marnie. Nothing is too much trouble, always tries her best to get us on the ground floor as the hotel does not have lifts, very friendly. As always forgot to book a table in the restaurant and Marnie managed to get us all in.amazing work ethic. Would say that the restaurant across the carpark could do with a refurb or even a lick of paint but we will be back in the summer see you soon. Comfy stay. thank you merthyr

Perfect location to the mountains. Had everything I could of wanted nearby from mountain warehouse, a quick drive away to the co-op which is a couple of 100 yards away. The room, staff and hotel were fantastic. Exactly what I wanted. The shower was the highlight which made the stay even better after a trip up pen y fan. I'll be back in the summer. No question
