Microtel by Wyndham Penn Yan Finger Lakes Region

Excellent hotel, breakfast, clean, pool, and even located perfectly across from an Aldi. The breakfast was delicious

Brittney at the front desk is in dire need of more training! We had to swipe our card at check in for a 10% down payment, which I completely understood! I specifically asked her if the card put onto the site for booking the room would be the one used for the rest of the payment, and she reassured us that yes it would! It was NOT! She did NOT charge us 10%, instead she charged us $339!!! We had used a credit card for a reason! We were there for a wedding and did not have an extra $300 to be spent at the Microtel of all places! We got a notification of the charge while at the wedding! My husband called the hotel and spoke with Brittney who assured him that she had taken care of it! We went to check out, and a wonderful person named Tierra (sp) was now working. She looked in the computer only to discover that Brittney literally did nothing to fix the charges! Another couple from the wedding that was across the hall from us had the same exact thing happen with Brittney! The same card was supposed to be used to pay for both rooms! The other couple had come down to check out while we were trying to sort things out with Tierra. It took Tierra over an hour for us to get checked out, and we’re all still waiting for refunds of over $300!!! We asked Tierra if this all could have been avoided if Brittney had processed everything correctly at check in, and she said yes! This poor girl went above and beyond to fix someone else’s mistake, and doing what she could to rectify the negative customer experience! There was a family in the lobby when we checked in that was visibly upset! They told us that Brittney had given their room that they already paid for to someone else! Brittney was nice but not competent at doing her job, which is blatantly obvious!!! I’m pretty certain that you increase your prices for wedding season, because $300 is a bit much for a Microtel, but we didn’t have any other choice at the time! We also had to park our car behind a very busy bar, with lots of drunk people wandering around! The hotel parking lot was full! The continental breakfast was wonderful, and the staff was lovely!

Had a nice stay here. The reception area was very clean, well-lit and uncluttered. The breakfast area is about right in size and enough to accommodate guests getting their morning fix. Our room was clean and everything was working nicely (air condition, TV, hair dryer, microwave oven, fridge). The carpet inside our room (and even on the hallways) was also given attention by management as it is clean and nicely maintained. We also have a PIN-enabled safe in the room to stash our valuables (didn't use it though as there's no need for us to use it). The downside that we are noting here is the limited number of parking spaces. If guests will check-in late there's a decent chance that there's no more spot for them to park. We brought this up to the staff on duty during our check-in but did not get an advice on what to do should there be no availability to park, other than tried to assure as that they're expecting fewer guests for the next day. Other than this, this hotel is very convenient to get to places in Penn Yan such as the pharmacy, convenience store, grocery store, and a number of places to grab a bite. It's also close to Keuka Lake and its own host of vineyards and wineries.
